Could you use an a14 block with a12 gx crank rods, deck the block and use aftermarket pistons??

A14,15 blocks rule.

The A13 was a stocker. It came to us as a partly dismantled & incomplete engine, but there were no special parts in it at all, just cast pistons, standard crank & rods, no special work on the block & a stock head. The rods went into a 1200 motor with A14 crank & 77mm, A15 pistons. That 1200 coupe hauls arse.

The block will be built up for my sons 120Y from leftover parts laying around. I will probably use the internals from my 1200GX engine. With a half mill overbore, it can use my old pistons & i have a late A12 GX cam just gathering dust on my bench. The A14 carb will give it something to suck on, & with an oval port A14 head, it should run sweetly.

If you can temporarily slip in your race engine, that fork lift should peak out to maybee 15kph. With rear steer, even at that speed, you're taking your life in your hands.

chris, that a13 you got was a race engine, whie the a13's in other cars are for the street.so a big bore, short stroke race engine makes sense,as does a small bore, long stroke street engine.i think that engine was probably from a formula 3 car when they were 1300 cc's.

p.s. was doing some work at canon nec here in sydney & they have a nissan forklift with an a15 in it,on lpg.it was restricted to 12km's top speed.i offered to bring in a cam,a dizzy & some carbs to make it go quicker, but they said no thanks.

The A13 seems to be an interesting one. My 120Y repair manual describes an A13 with a 73mm bore & a 77mm stroke. This is the same bore as the A12 with the A14 stroke.

I have in my posession an A13 block [& i'm keeping it] that came with a 76mm bore & a 70mm stroke. This is the A14 / A15 bore size with the A12 stroke. From this it would seem that there are two A13's.

Can anyone actually verify the existance of a small bore long stroke A13?
Does anyone have details on the A13 forklift engine?

Hi Guys.

I am just curious. Why specifically a A13 engine?
It is only 100cc more than a A12. Can that 100cc really make much of a difference?
I would guess that you may not use A14 due to class rules.

A13s were the only engine in the 1974 B210 North America ("B-210"), and that was the only model in NA that got them.

I believe some Japan model cars had them as well.

I have one for my 1300 cc race engine. They are highly desireable as you can keep thick bore castings for our 1300 class race engines.

The last ones I got came from Thailand. They are very hard to get here. It seems they are easier to get in the US. That may have to be the next happy hunting ground.
