Yep. My next door neighbor and my brother-in-law are both cops, and so is my uncle ( a sergeant) and you should hear the horror stories they tell about other "bad" cops ...

Jempson, I congratulate you for being one of the very few real honest down to Earth coppers, but, if you ever want to have the ride of your life, real scary, beyond believe, take a exchange course with the Los Angeles Police, or the infamous Huntington Beach police, if you are a decent policeman, as you say you are, and I do not have reasons why not to believe you, what I can tell you is that you will be horrified, disgusted, sickened and dissapointed with the fellow officers in the US. Not only them, but the judicial system which backs them up, all in the spirit of revenue. Someone wrote that it's not their fault, they must do it for revenue reasons, well, sorry, but, robbery is just that, robbery, and if done under the color of the law, or under the reason of poverty, still, it is robbery. If you where to give a speech to the LA police, probably they would plant drugs in your locker or car or somewhere , and then in their style, discredit you and destroy your character, , good officers are the worst enemy of the police establishment. later>>>

I must have lead a charmed life as i have never been pinged for something i wasn't actually doing, & even then, on several occasions i was given the benefit of the doubt & either "verbally cautioned" or the offence [usually "excede prescribed speed"] was writen up at a lesser value.
For every infringement that was detected, there were thousands that wern't, & yes, when you are doing about 80,000k per year in rural NSW, one develops a little driving skill & a desire to lower the point to point time just a whisker more. I'm old now & i havent been detected in the commision of an offence since late 1990. Am i getting slower,... or smarter, because i am still driving every day in the service of my employer.

Damn!!!! Can you PLEASE come and work out here, or at least give some education to the coppers here. I've got more than 4 tickets just to myself in the last 6 months. And most of the people I know that drive everywhere are the same! And they are all for such stupid things, like 7 km/h over the limit while i was overtaking, and not wearing a seat belt when i WAS wearing one!

Quote: They get promoted and become good oficers if they issue tickets/infractions. Think about it, a officer that returns to the station empty hande is not going to be a good officer, Hey, Im a copper in Sydney, AU. Think about the trade/profession that you work in. Is everyone working in your industry good at what they do? jaimecidpedro, good work. If he can't be bothered/organised enough to turn up to court, he shouldn't have written the ticket.

thats unbelivalble UTE18L You try to do the right thing, get all the certificates dot the i's cross the t's and some moron on a power trip who can't admit he was wrong has to ruin your night just to prove he was right. I've dealt with GDs and Hwy and the GDs are always reasonable and at least behave like normal human beings. The Hwy bar one of them have been rude, arrogant arseholes. I think Hwy attracts those sort of coppers. Give the rest of the force a bad name.

I was pulled over by a highway patrol officer (traffic offence coppa) in redfern the other night for no particular reason (he said i clipped the white lines and is therefore allowed to stop me- which i dont think i did and wasnt issued a fine for) and was asked if my car has 'had any modifications?' "YES- would you like to see the engineers certificate?" "Just get it for me" was his reply He then proceded to read the mods listed over and over trying to think of something he could nab me for, nothing. After checking everything on the certificate he then proceded to do a roadworthy check, indicators, rust, horn.... and nothing After about 45 minutes of head scratching he checked the windscreen wipers, then the water spray, water sprayed then stopped...empty. Now i have a ticket for a defective vechile all because a copper used the last of my water. Court here i come.. cant wait to shi... all over him

I have a drinking mate who is a Senior Sergeant of police who once told us two things. (1) If I catch you driving that clubman on the streets, I'll throw the book at you. The answer is obvious---You gotta catch us first.
(2) More importantly, he also made the observation that one of the biggest threats to civilised society is a bored policeman.
How true is that?

In nz they are on a quota system and in the north island it equates to 1 ticket every 20 mins. Its a joke, they are forced to prety much make up tickets. I dont think its a cop problem, they hate it as well, its a revenue issue, they have to do it because we refuse to pay higher taxes and they have to suport themselves of bulshit tickets. I hate them but i also feel sorry for them. Its a lose lose situation.
