To go waay back in this thread, My release fork snapped off one of the arms at one time and I just wandered around a wrecking yard that specializes in Nissans until I found one that was closest in terms of fulcrum length to my busted one. I have no idea model Nissan it was out of - lay in a box of many

kb110, you are right, you can use a standard flywheel and fit a L18 pressure plate, I didn't explain myself well enough (have edited posting)

It is more than 20 years ago since I fiited my 63A box up to an A14 engine, but I definitely used a lightened A12 flywheel (the std A14 one is like a ship's anchor in comparison).
Like you Lemonhead I used a L18 series clutch plate and cover.

Leosnake, congrats on getting the whole car, man thats fantastic, why it is good is because you can the use the 63series flywheel and pressure plate, with out re-drilling a standard flywheel, because the input shaft is bigger on the 63 stuff (same as L series) you can use a standard A-series flywheel but not the pressure plate because the input spline is bigger. On my original flywheel I fitted a 180b pressure plate to the standard (but VERY lightened) flywheel. As for the fork i'm sure if you hunt around the wrecking yards at the L- series stuff you"ll find what your looking for. Took me a while to find the right doner but i got their in the end.

Righto olboy I"ll explain, currently I'm supervising a $13m refit at work, part of this is buying a couple of million dollars of machinary from America, so I got in contact with the American supplier and asked if I got a gearbox to him can he throw it in the next container coming over. OK not a problem he says, so I had a exciting bid on ebay and won, i would not have even bid if i didn't have the "free" trip home for it, it would cost to much to get it sent over. If i knew of more i would get them sent over as well, but i don't! So thats how i come to get a 63 box for $395.00 Aussie. It is only a spare for the rallycar but it's a good spare to have lying around.

I'm almost positive the front suspension from a B210 will not just bolt in. I don't have a b210 so I can't be certain.
If you have both the b210 and 1200 sitting in the same driveway, it should be easy to confirm.
It's all about, find your tape measure and get to work

I have a 63A dogleg box and the mainshaft is waaay bigger than normal. Mine was lying on a floor when I got it and the driveshaft was not includedm but luckily they had just gassed it off and the front yoke was still there (stopped oil leaking too I guess).
I just had it welded to a 1200 driveshaft.
Perfecto.......

Congrats on finding another! I guess that confirms that 63a 5-speeds were not uncommon in B-210 GX cars ...

Quote:
use everything off the B210 e.g. suspension, crossmember, differential, driveshaft etc.
Hmmm .. the B210 and B110 driveshafts are the same. So it's not needed. The B210 has a stronger differential though (H150 instead of H145). Either the trans length or the diff length is 40mm different from the B110 parts. Maybe you could measure and tell us?

I used a B-210 A14 engine in my 1200. I didn't change the engine crossmember, and in fact everyone here says the x-member won't fit the 1200. If you measure the width it should be a bit wider.

At another time I put the A15 and 5-speed (60a) from a B310 in my 1200. The rear crossmember doesn't fit the 1200, but a simple piece of metal worked. I used factory driveshaft (unmodified).

The newer B210s have bigger brakes. If yours has the rectangle-pads instead of square pads that's a good swap.

Well I just solved my problem with the fork!!...I bought another 120Y/ B210 GX with the 63A Dogleg 5 speed transmission!! Yeah!!!
I paid $325.00 for the complete car...good A14, the 5 speed, extra parts from a running car...but non operation status with DMV.
I hate to part out the car...but I don't need another Datsun restoration project!!
I'll use the motor and transmission on my 1200...I'll check to see if the driveshaft bolts up to the 1200 differential.
I researched our old 1200 Yahoo site for the use of B210 parts on our 1200...One post said it could be done but to use everything off the B210 e.g. suspension, crossmember, differential, driveshaft etc.
Any US 1200 people can confirm this?
P.S.
The funny part and to show that Datsun people are a small family...in this large world was the fact these guys know Jaime with the 120Y.
They are actuallly friends...the guy seemed O.K. until he started to talk crap about our 1200's / 120Y's...and talking bad about some of our club members...and praising the 510 to the max.
I love Datsuns...I love Datsuns of all kinds...We don't need people talking #### between different models of the same brand of vehicle!
At least that is the way I think...

Hey Lemonhead. How much did it cost to get the box out from america. I'v looked at buying one from the states but the freight was more than the box. How did you do it. Thanks olboy
