Thats what they have here (UK). They paint them bright Yellow!! and only some have cameras in them.... Its a great idea but I dont think they slow people down, except for where the cameras are. They are now bringing out the roadside ones.... I think a mix is good

When they first introduced red light cameras they thought it would be a good idea to put one out the front of my house, right next to my window, apart from the screeching tires of people trying not to get clicked there was a flash every hour or so and this became annoying, being the 14 year old boy i was i started sticking black contact (stuff used to cover school books) over the glass. It would usally last about a month before they came and fixed it and i was out there the very next night doing it again.
It works a treat as it stops the government get our money yet still will stop people running the red as most think they will get clicked.
Maybe insted of putting real speed cameras every where they should use dummies, because as they say all they are trying to do is slow us down not make a profit.

Some speed cameras in Sydney, have a camera watching them. They are out of the reach of most vandals, way up on telegraph posts nearby.

I'd like to know the cost of running this streaming video back to a place where somebody sits and watches it..

In Sweden and Netherlands, there are cameras that look like they were set on fire and bombed. Have look about on the net.

its bullpoo i tells ya.
i rekon huge groups all around the world should go and spraypaint all over the camera glass in there countrys. this means that the flash will still go but people wont be fined as the paint will block it.
itl will #### the government off heaps that there loosing what something around $500-$2000 on each camera because there film is taken out every 1-3 monthes or so. but then it could cost us more as they may have to pay paint removalists with OUR money.

and of course with all the police driving desks instead of cars now, the dangerous ba^@#ds who steal cars and speed through cameras off there face on drugs dont need to worry about getting a fine or being pulled over before smashing into someone responsible.

Crikey! I sure hope that the money hungry bean counters out here dont catch wind of it. Or else they'll be sure to want to jump on the bandwagon.

the thing that ####s me is that the speed cameras have been statistically proven that they dont prevent road fatalities or crashes!

all it is millions and millions in state revenue. speed camera's are meant to slow people down in black spots and high speed area's. Up here they actually break the law so that they can catch people. by law in queensland there meant to have the sign 300yards ahead to warn if they setup the camera. but on the hiway near me they hide behind huge shrubs and inside them to catch people, with no signs.

I am for cameras...but in moderation, when nessercery. when are they stepping over the line? is it just the Politicians pushing for more Moeny no matter how just or effect it is?

some places in Europe, implemented the camera's and found them not effective, they took them down and found that fatalities and crashes actually declined!
other methods have been successfully implemented all over the world, like, speeding classes if you get caught, more awarnesses on speeding, campaigns , many other opitions.

but seems "easier+cheaper=more revnue", even when proven not effective.

and this new sound level camera's sounds crap too

flicking through the sunday papers today i found an interesting article that will see the government make yet more $ through the "modifed" car scene.
It states that they are setting up "cameras" to actually read the noise level of truck brakes at certain spots in Sydney. A photo will then be taken and a fine issued in the mail... it then went on to state that it will also be used in "black spots" to target modified cars!
Now im all for enforcing the law, but when is enough enough. What really ####s me is these low lifes that drink and drive (persistently) and get slapped with a good behaviour bond, or suspended licence- yet get caught turning the tyres and you can have your car impounded, or worse yet sold on you!
This topic has probably already been covered but that article just gave me the ####s today...
