did you have the box apart. sometimes if you don't get the bearing on the end of the main sharft right then you will have heaps of end float and heaps of slop in the wheel. I know I tried several times. It keeps falling out of place. I think I put it in with grease in the end. Hope this helps.

Yes, 731200 is right it's quite easy.

Steering gearbox adjustment

Of course if you're in the southern hemisphere you need to reverse the picture (but not the steps).

There is a locknut with a flat head screwdriver shaft, just undoo the locknut so its loose turn the screw clockwise, it should be loose just tighten till you feel the lightest tension on the screwdriver then thats enough tighten the locknut then check steering wheel free play and adjust a bit more if you have to.

Hope this helps!!

i have just replaced all tie-rod ends and had the draglink rebuilt in my 1200 sedan and now after reassembling the steering box ( had to take it apart to seperate it from the draglink as they were corroded together) and now i have alot more play in the steering wheel than before. There is an adjustment screw on the top of the steering box, will adjusting the screw help eliminate the play? if not any suggestions? cheers
