I have 300ZX seats, they are thin at the back. Not on rails so there is no moving them Comfy for what they are and the upright action you copp in a 1200 ute. Mine aren't on rails so they sit very low.

I bolted in Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe seats without modifying either the seats or the Datsun seat rails. I just use two flat steel plates bolted to the seats, then bolted the rails to that. It was a good fit for a 1200, plus had the side, knee, and lumbar bolsters.

i am running series 6 rx7 seats in my ute... they are engineered, but have custom mounts. They are a thick seat and there fore sit very "upright" because i have them all the way back (need the room). but quite comfortable.
I have thought of swapping them for a race type seat (thinner and lighter)

So it seems like there are no desireable seats that can be bolted right in without some modification. I'm not too surprised. Nissan seems to have changed the seat bolt pattern with almost every model. The original seats the Datsuns came with were not very well made at all. I have aquired a really nice pair of '88 Suzuki Swift GTi seats. Very nice fitting seats with good lumbar support like some later model Nissan seats. I will no doubt have some fabrication on my hands before the Suzuki seats will fit, but the price was right! [free]

i saw in street machine a car with those hornet racing buckets (you know those plastic things drag racers use) and the car was engineered with thtem, as well as a guy at a local datsun wreckers drives a ute with them in it cause he's 6fott 3 and 110 kg, he cant fit otherwise.
If they are road legal, they would be ok
