Naw, there were early Cherries (front distributor, up to 1973) and later Cherries (center distributor, 1974 up).

All 1974-up cams interchange: A12, A13, A14, A15 and A12A.

Would it be a fair guess that the A12 fitted to Cherries was the later centre distributor and the 13001-H5712 is the part number for these blocks, whilst the 13001-M0820 was for the front distributor block????

If that is true it will fit all centre dizzy A series blocks, right??

Just checked, and found 13001-M0820 in the earlier manuals(B110 and E10),but also found 13001-H5712 in the N10 manual(hadn't looked into that one). But you are right, feral, the specs are identical so I suppose they did change the part number for some reason over the years.

Shame about that ddgonzal.
Was a doozy of a cam, had lotsa lift and was necessary to machine the block to clear the valves.
Musta been a mystery cam..........

My Nissan Competition catalog is the 1984 edition. It doesn't list the camshaft you mention, only the two GX cams and two Electromotive cams.

But in any case, they say modern cam profiles from the 90s are far superior to anything made in the 70s ... so having custom cam made up sounds like the way to go

Yes, the first camshaft is for 1971-1973 engines. The #2 is for engines built from 7/73 and newer.

GX: .331" lift, 256-degrees

The Electromotive cam:
.468" lift, on 104 degree lobe centers
99996-H1031 300 degrees
99996-H1032 310 degrees

About 25 years ago I built up a demon A12 with a genuine Nissan/Datsun Performance camshaft part number 13001-M0820.
I am guessing Nissan/Datsun continued to make the same profile for a centre drive distributor block, but I have no idea what the part no is or if it is still available.

Jon

Jon, I have an old [US] Nissan Motorsport catalog and I looked under the camshaft section. There are four cams listed. Two are the factory "GX" cams, and the other two are Electramotive race cams. In any case, the GX camshaft #1 part number was 13001-H2300. The GX #2 cam was a 13001-5700. Neither match your part number. However, the first part of the number is right. Interestingly enough, if you look at the part number for the lightweight cam followers [lifters] the suffix of that part number matches the suffix of your number: 13231-M0820. Did you mix up your numbers maybe?
