You may have an issue with your battery doing it that way. being a CA18 and the intake on the other side. get a nice intake pipe made up, or modify one of the cold air intake kits from an auto parts shop for saya commodore or something like that.

i know the thoery of what your saying, to gain any real benefit, your plemun (spelling is wrong) must be equal or grater in ar cacity then the ammount of ait your motor consumes in one cycle, there for necessitaing a cold air intake to keep it supplied with air. the piping you are tak=lking about is ok but the metal ribs create too much turbulence if being used in high performance applications as it disrupts the air into the afm or throttle body

Just wondering what cold air intake systems you have on your 1200's. could anyone post pics of their system

I want to put plastic tubing in front of the ram pod as a simple cold air intake, and was thinking about replacing the whole piece of tubing that leads to the plenum chamber to the air flow meter (on a CA18DE). But a question arises, will the plastic tubing be suitable (the orange or black stuff that has the wire running through it) , if i support the air filter and meter? also the aluminium tubing (about 65mm) in place at the moment has a oil breather line attached to it can i just replace that line with one of those mini air filters (like K&N make).

Also i read somewhere that in order fo your car to idle correctly you must have at least your engine capacity in filtered air on tap (ie. already filtered and ready in the tubing), is this true?

little help
