Its hard to believe that these yota v8s have achieved so much in a short time.

The 1uz is the burger with the lot.

Check older issues of zoom for powerboats, drag silicas and articles and tech articles on the 1uz and thats where also the figures are from.

Check out this link and see for yourself well you probably already on it pro240c.

http://www.lextreme.com/

Never mentioned 3000hp on stock internals but Zoom doesnt go into these blown alcohol engines in the states. However it would need some serious internals of course.

As for the boat with 1000hp with stock internals I know its hard to believe.

3000hp from a 4.0L is 750hp per litre. certainly NOT on std internals and very unbelievable even with aftermarket everything.

1000hp isn't "chicken feed" to any engine (let alone 3000), it still requires a lot of tuning and planning and uber-careful machining /assembly. you'd be talking 0.5thou tolerances there, instead of the more accepted 1.5-2thou.

top fuellers run almost 5000hp on destroked and bored big V8s and run on the verge of hydraulic lock from the amount of alcohol and methanol that is pumped into them - not to mention the 10/71 and 12/71 chargers strapped to the top of them. a 1UZ pales in comparison to these engines so you'd be lucky to crack a quad digit at all i think. 1000hp might be possible, but you'd need to run full time methanol with a whopping amount of advance with a huge amount of boost and there's only SO much that even the high CR 1UZ can take.

lot so of power potential - yes - but seriously 600-750hp would be a relaible, buildable, affordable engine power combo - not 1000hp (and certainly not 3000hp)

the 1GZ-FE (quad cam, 48valve V12 in the new century's) is a work of art as well, but certainly won't see 3000hp either.

Jun`s supra 4cylinder 500hp ha ha ha
Rod millen gets doble that from the same engine. Well horses for causes though.

Rod millen is the name of the man who runs and ran for many years big turbo 3sg engines in almost everything hes raced like his Pikes peak record holders.
1000hp and under 10mins to the top all from a four cylinder. The lexus engine is an evolved version of two 3sg heads on double the capacity so 1000hp is chicken feed for this engine and the reason its used more and more in hot rods and supercharged in the states to give 3000hp (with work done to the interanals of course!). As for stock lexus v8s they are a work of art made to surpass any mass produced v8. There is also a v12 quad cammed big dady only found on big luxury non export japanese Presidents but imagine buyin 12 of everything for that mother.

Search for "Rod millen".

Imagined a 240z with a much lighter more powerful 4 cyl donk itll be almost a mid engined car!

Thanks for the link. I have been following the XR6T tuners thru Zoom/Street Machine mags and all I can say is, thank you. Thank you Ford Australia. I am die hard blue oval fan and its great to see the XR6T getting a cult status, watta donk! One day when I am old I will transplant one of these in the XB! Haha.

you obviously haven't opened up a 1UZFE then.

all this thru a 2spd powerglide...

Obviously.

It has been true for decades, & may still be true even today that the cast iron Powerglide has the strongest planetary gearset of any automotive auto trans, but the Chrysler 727 Torqueflite is the stronger trans overall due to its more robust bands & other internal components.
With high outputs & relatively light weight, the two speed 'Powerslide' can still be more than enough trans for the job, & for this reason it is still a well respected & often used trans.
I kinda like the Clutchflite myself.

i think the JUN supra runs a very similar engine to replace it's 2JZGTE...god knows why they replaced the 3.0L turbo with a 2.0L turbo though.

because they only need to produce 500hp, and they can get that with a lighter engine, so its a weight saving thing

Thats true, the other reason is that its a shorter engine giving it better weight balance over front and rears. They also produce reliable horsepower from this engine which is equally important. Not saying that their 6 isnt reliable, of course.

yeah but whats the point????????????
A formula 1 car used to make 1500hp from a 1.5 litre turbo V6 ....the modern F1 makes 700hp out of a 3.0 litre v10 and goes way faster around the same tracks even without active suspension etc etc... i still reckon it all comes down to the chassis for real driver satisfaction and real speed
