Yeah and while your at it let us know what 91.25 mm stroke crankshaft will fit in this imaginary A12... because unless you're to bore it out over 77mm that's what it would take to get 1700cc's.

Pay no attention to these unbelievers, what would they know anyway, you sound like a man with a revolutionary breakthrough.
I'm always ready to learn more about cars in general, & Datsuns in particular. From your avitar & post, I can see that you are a Datsun 1000 man like me, so we all gotta help each other out.

Can you tell us more, in specific detail, about this 1700cc upgrade? I would dearly love to do it in a 1200 engine that i am rebuilding just now, so your timing is absolutely perfect.

More more more,.. we need to know how it is done, in wonderfull, full colour detail. Model of engine that the rods come from, what pistons & some dimentional specs would be a good start.

I can hardly wait.

maybe instead of people telling me to learn more about datsun's, they should learn more about cars in general...just an idea :)

This coming from a guy that thinks conrods of unknown origin, as long as they say BMW on them somewhere, are going to magically give him 500cc's extra displacement?

Give me a break!

main reason for the BMW conrod idea is then i'll effectively have increased engine capacity to about 1700cc, not bad for a 1200 :)

pretty much sums it up. Go learn somethng about cars in general, then learn something about Datsuns.

Lesson 1: rods have no effect on the capacity of your engine.

I hope you are not telling Dodgeman to learn more about cars..?

He'll shortly tell you just how much he knows..without doubt.

I don't know if you've researched the reason why others aren't doing the same thing. It's worth a try, but if you sit down and think about the millions of man hours spent modifying the A12, there might be a reason for why it's not a more popular modification.

Cheers,
Chris

then, the injection will leave the boost option open for a super/turbo charging later once any teething problems have been eradicated.

A12 crank has a 70mm stroke
A14 crank has a 77mm stroke
A15 crank has a 82mm stroke

I'm using the A14 crank in a 1200 block.

why not put a A15 crank in?

It will not fit the A12 block. If it could be made to fit, i would already have one for my engine.

Before paying out for a lot of bizzarre mods, it might pay to learn a bit about Datsuns first. You can achieve just about all of your goals with a lot less work, money or grief by learning from others on this site. Happy Datsun motoring
