why did i spend $35 on a HKS sticker to have some tool tell me it was in the middle of the window, when it wasnt, and end up ripping it off?

Yeah...that's what I was trying to do...but the new bushes were a bit of a tight fit.....Even when the wife was supporting the diff, it was a bit difficult.

Anyway...the sucker's in now

P.S. I should have called you Kegs.....your not far from me

sounds like fun, ive put 4 different diffs in my mates 200b in the last month coz he keeps blowing them, trick is to just hold up one side and put one bolt in say the shock or the trailing arm, then do the other side, and then the tailshaft etc.... sorta just use the bolt as a pivot .

Here's one......from last night

I was trying to put the diff assembly (H190) back into the Sunny......with it balanced precariously on the jack, I started lifting it up. Of course trying to balance the diff, line up the trailing arms and then fit the trailing arms (with new Noltec Bushes) was impossible to do on my own...... the inevitable happened, and the diff fell from the jack, and nearly crushed my arm!

Not to give up too easily.....I had another go...this time it was looking good, and I was paying more attention to the balancing act.....but of course, the diff fell again......I was not impressed.

In the end, I got the little lady to come out and steady the diff, while I lined it up and bolted the thing into the car........even this was one hell of an effort! I thought about it afterwards...and was like.....how in the world did I ever think I was going to able to do that on my own?

The front fenders on mine were an issue as well , every 1200 I've dealt with seems to need work on the front fenders - even before they were crashed. They all seem to pop in just above the tire.

I'll be happy with a paintjob that looks good at a distance. Prep was fairly easy till the front fenders, now i'm stuck, too many dents and stuff to pop out... I've been using up every can of sprayable stripper in town.

I just resprayed my 1200 , the prep work never ended. keep in mind it's a race car so it only needs to look good from 10 feet away , I still must have 100 hours of prep in it. I no longer question how a paint job can cost thousnads of dollars. Also every spot I srewed up on the prep is now visible on the paint. er.... don't use 80 grit paper cuase it is quicker.. What made things even more tedious is I'm the A.D.D. poster child. ADD and meticulous work don't mix. Thank goodness my wife is understanding.
Good luck on your paint work , the prep work will be worth it in the end.

I thought it would be fun to repaint my car. This was back in july or something. I started stripping all the paint off and it's now almost december and I still have to paint the front guards and finish up the hatch.

working nearly every saturday. i'm lucky my girlfriend hasn't killed me...

I just did this putting the exhaust on mine - cut it in one spot then realized it was going to be short - fix invloved two trips to the parts store.
Yesterday I go to leave work , my old Volvo 142 "E" won't start. the Fuel pump is silent. I have no test light or other tools in the car - it's a Volvo much like a Datsun why would I carry tools. Call a buddy , three minutes with a test light and it's fixed. On 140's with Bosch D injection there is a auxilary fuse box on the left side of the engine bay - the fuse had rotted. Replace fuse and it fires up duuuh.
Saturday I went to fire up the portable genrator cuz I hadn't run it in weeks. after several pulls hey I wonder if the gas is bad. open cap , oh yeah I drained the gas.
putting the wind shield clips back in the 1200 , when I drilled out the old rivets got carried away and now the holes are to big.
My buddy the fabricator has told my dozens of times the proper way to drill rivets but Tom the hack has to just hog them out so.... after hand bucking them , windshield clips are installed. I could go on forever

recently and quiet frequently i find myself saying "for fcuks sake, why did i do that?!" after thinking something might look good and turns out looking very bad.
tonight i thought giving my new dash a fresh coat of paint would be a good idea. $2 paint doesnt work as well as i hoped and now i have the gayest dash of all time. i think ive said "god damn it, why i do that" about 50 times already.

give me a sigh of relief and share your "god damn it, why did i do that" experience!
