Replace the seals while its apart
The coloured grease is usually silicone based for slides
Use brake fluid as a lube for slipping the piston back in

Hello peoples
Im rebuilding some 280zx struts to go in the racecar, I had the brake guy down the road from me look at the calipers when i had them in peices and he said all clearances with the pistons to the body are fine and even said they probably didnt need a rebuild but i dont want to take that chance, he told me to assemble everything in new brake fluid to pre-lubricate, the caliper rebuild kit that i just got has a little sachet of red stuff, is that grease for the sliding bolts (these calipers are floating type) or lubricant for the piston?
I guess it is for the sliding bolts but just want to make sure, also does anyone know what size noltec coil over kit to get for these struts? Does anyone have any tips to make the rebuilding of these calipers easier for me?
Cheers guys
Sean
