Hi J,

I just moved to NC from Australia - used to live in Thomasville so know the High Point area well. There is a another member on here with a 1200 coupe - she's from Burlington I believe. Drop me a PM and it'd be good to check out your Datto.

Thanks Dave, I've signed up for the yahoo group. With a careful bit of searching I've located a set of black buckets from a 2000 honda prelude on www.car-part.com this is an awesome site i've used for years, It's a virtual junkyard. If you havn't used this site, go and see what you've been missing. The price ranges are quite broad, there are some folks wanting over $1000ea for these seats but I found them here in NC for only $50ea. 95% savings.... yeah I'll take that. Does anybody know if they'll fit in the B210 ? I can weld so fabrication is not a problem, I just want to know if they fit length and width - wise. Thanks again guys

Welcome to the family!!
Now the B210 hatch we are talking about the 120y hatch here yeah? Alwyas getting confused bout areas and naming..
But by the sounds of it picked up quite a nice package there, GX B210 hatch is a quite nice looking car with some attention (nice B310 hatch here in town) But the best thing bout htis is the 5 speed, ive seen these be sold for over $400 (AUS) so look after it! good mags aswell and plenty of rubber left for those unsupecting burnouts
I reckon a great way for you too learn more is jump on here: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/datsun210/

Get an account and sign up, great way to learn more about your car and for people like you and me who do not have 1200's !!
And the interior i reckon is normal to be stuffed i kinda just assume that it would be a bit ratty if 1 owner, not touched for years blah blah - bound to have problems but nothin a bit of TLC cant fix

Again welcome mate and enjoy that difference, the datsun difference!!

Dave

I believe they were early 90's they were grey with black outsides, adjustable lumbar, great seats. They lined up with three of four bolt holes so it was good enough for me.

Thanks Keith, What year MR2 did you pull the seats from and did they bolt to the rails or did you have to weld them ?

Well Rustbucket, sounds like the beginning of a beautiful relationship with you and Lola. It will be a lot of work as most relationships are.

If the rust is in fact semi minor you have a good car to start with. GX 5 speed, I am jealous. I am waiting patiently for a car with a 5 speed tranny to come by my area, but they are quite rare. I would settle for a 4 speed at this point just to get the better part of the swap done.

I have put Toyota MR2 seats in 3 of my previous 510's but I'm not sure what an easy swap into the B210 would be as my interior in my 76 coupe is mint.

I would also be interested to know if there are seats that do easily bolt in.

Keep us updated in your project.

Keith

Ok, lemme give you guys a bit more info. I live in High Point North Carolina, Any club members around here ? Neways, I found the car in one of my patient's backyards, I deliver home medical equipment, walkers wheelchairs, oxygen and stuff. As luck would have it I had to make another delivery there today and I checked out the car a little more thouroughly. The rust is not as bad as I had orriginally thought, mostly surface rust that I will be able to sand out and fill with bondo. There are a few problem areas though, like the underside of the rear quarter panels, But I believe they are fixable. The hood is bent up and rusted all along the unsderside, there are a few spots on the driver's door and a few more on the roof, but none of it goes thru. Under the hood is basically what you might expect from a 30 year old car, dirty and ugly, but nothing out of order. The interior is utter crapola, the driver's seat is destroyed and will need to be replaced before I drive it anywhere, Part of the console seems to be missing, there is a gaping hole above the radio and the ductwork is exposed surprisingly the car does not have a tach, just a datsun emblem to the right of the speedo, but it does have A/C. It has a nice set of 13" alluminum racing wheels and Khumo tires with at least 80% tread left on them. The weather stripping all around will need to be replaced but all the doors, windows, and hatch shut easily and securely, there is no frame sag here. I made an offer on the car today which the owner accepted, $250 he he. And as soon as he digs up the title I'm going to tow her home. I think I'll call her Lola. Speaking of seats, any suggestions on comfy sporty bucket seats with good bolstering that fit in this car would be greatly appreciated.

welcome to the club.

Datsun engines, gearboxs and diffs are very good. But as you said rust is a very big problem area.If it's rust as bad as you say it is i'd let this one go.

Greetings all you datsun fanatics,

As the title suggests, I might be buying a datsun B210 this weekend. At this stage I will not be heavily modifying the engine or making many upgrades at all. This car is just something to get me around for a year or two while I save up to buy my wife a nice new car. The car is in VERY rough shape, but as I understand it you just can't beat an old Dat for reliability. I need some advice from you guys on what specific problem areas to watch for, The car has a lot of rust but I don't know if it has cauased any serious structural integrity issues. I will be going to look at the car again on saturday, any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Oh, BTW the car is a 76? B210_gx hatchback with a 5spd trans, I know it needs a new distributor cap, but I plan to do a MAJOR tune-up as soon as I get it. Thanks in advance for your help guys
