Thanks for the reply ade

I think you are right. From what I can remember, the clips were full of rust and the paint was stained. The stain is showing just underneath the chrome strip on the paint of the door when you look at the strip after it is put back on the door. After replacing the chrome strip back again, I took some carwax and removed the stains as far as possible.
My problem is that the chrome strips are scratching paint off when they are put on.
And I removed the drivers side one again to find out what is causing this.
My worry is that it is scratching paint of the door that is suppose to protect it from rusting.
Will these scratches underneath the chromestrip not eventually rust becoming ugly and unrepairable or is it something that will happen in a long time.
I am taking my car to car shows and will not like these rust to start showing. But on the other hand I do not want to remove the strips, touch up the scratches just to be scratched again when I put the strips back again.
It is a evil cycle
Are you guys also having some rustspots in these places?
In that case I can live with it knowing mine is not the only one rusting here and there.

From what you have said it is not the scratched causing the rust but i reckon the clips that grab the pinchweld are rusty and you are getting transfer to the scratched paint.
Is the rust bubbling ? or is it staining the paint

Hi all

My Datsun was resprayed about 2 years ago.
Since then it lived under a shade next to the house getting minimal sun due to the location next to the house.
This helps for sun but not for rain.
Although it is inland and rain is not so bad on the cars, mine has started to rust AGAIN.

The front left and right sides of the front window is where it is rusting again. The waterchannel to be precise. Not a problem, I am going to let this be fixed with a airbrush.
My problem is the following.

I discovered rust colouring under the chrome strips that is found on each door.
(They are clipped on horizontally where the window is located that is rolled up or down.)
I decided to remove the drivers side one quickly to find out what is causing this rust marks.
I found that it is the chrome strip's teeth that when you clip it onto the door it "grabs" the door to hold it in place.
When you press this chrome strip down into place it scratches the paint off the door baring it to rain and stuff.
The only thing I can think of is that I must not wash the car on these parts to get minimal water there.Maybe just use a damp cloth or sponge.
I am soon going to move to my own house where my cars are going to be under roof and not in rain anymore.
Must I just wax the rustmarks off that is visible and get minimal water in these spots?
I think respraying these parts will be money wasting and when the strips is clipped into place it will just scratch the paint off again.
Thanks
