You must accept our praise willingly or we will praise you by force!

The lads are correct, and I have yet to see a 1200 here in the U.S. that comes within 50% of yours

K that helps now. Helps alot actually.

I would like to know what the part # of the Spax are..... extended and compressed lengths too.
I was tossing up using them on the back of my 1000 coupe which I'll be fitting a VS diff to later this year (if all goes well)

I can't see clearly your upper arms... got a better pic of them ?
Did you ever consider just one upper off the centre of the diff ? My racercar runs just one..... but not sure how or where I'd mount it actually

Cheers
Neil

C'mon mate, don't be like that.

The car is pretty cool, but it's not perfect, nowhere near it. I think I'll never be happy with it, which is a major bummer.

My advice is to start with a solid car with all it's original panels. Don't use body panels from different cars. Because some parts were made in Australia, and some in Japan, the panel dies must have been different.

The exhaust hitting the floor, gearbox crossmember and diff housing, is slowly driving me nuts. Makes it sound like a s$%tbox on a bumpy road.

Doing up a car is so much bloody work. It's not really a hobby

I am just going to pop out to the shed and torch my 5 year resto project.
Your car would be without doubt the best 1200 I have ever seen.

That is excellent work. It's a bit hard to see if it might work but have you thought about going to a rectangular exhaust over the diff. I have seen it done on hotrods & it looks great if you continue it out the back. You might lose some flow but I doubt you would be lacking in performance anyway.

Thanks Tsillay.

Thanks for the panhard advice. I'm thinking more about going to "watts linkage" actually. But they are a bit down on the "to-do" list.

I'm waiting to get the car tuned properly, so I can get a feel for the car's real "attitude". But I expected a small rear sway bar would be good. It currently feels like it would oversteer a little.

Really nice job. Well done!
Hey my 2 cents worth, make the panhard as long as you can, get it parallel to the ground at static ride height, and get it as low as you can.
You'll notice your car will behave quite differently on left and right hand corners at the moment.
The time involved in squeezing a slim little rear sway bar in there will be worth it too!

Plans...What plans ? There are some basic sketches in my old man's "ideas book", but they'd not be of much help.

It was eyed off the AE86, then the idea transferred to the 1200. The arms where connected, with brackets tacked to the housing and the swing radius checked, to make sure it gos up and down without too much arc, or too much angle change on the diff flange. Had to also contemplate where the panhard rod was going to fit.

The shock mounts and the upper crossmember came next. That was where quite a bit of thought was required. Because I didn't have the springs until much later. They almost didn't fit. Some last minute changes to the lower mounts sorted that out.

Things like finding long high tensile bolts and lots of other little things made the job harder too.
