I was looking at buying a SR20DET 1200 ute from a guy on the Gold Coast a while ago. I think he had it engineered as a NA motor & then added the turbo....... Had no trouble getting a roadworthy / engineers certificate, he said the boys in blue pulled him over a few times & couldn't pick it.
I know it's a bit shady, but it's an option.

Just to add..

If its the car I am thinking of BULLET was an ACT built and engineered car that a friend of a friend built. Last I heard it was in QLD.

Is this the green one?

Some if not most engineers in NSW will probably say no. My suggestion is to contact as many engineers as you can, I do know of some that used to engineer these a year or so ago. Failing that I would contact the RTA and ask to speak to the head inpector for further information. Advise that you are looking to purchase a vehicle in the ACT that is engineered and registered but you are wanting to register the vehicle in NSW. If you get the ok, make sure you get it in writing.

If you like I can pass the info of a place that may engineer it for you in NSW.

If you got it enginered as an ICV you would have to meet all the ADRs of a 2005 vehicle.
