That may be true but how much ride height did you try to take out of the front end if you want it to sit with about 1/2 an inch gap between tyre and guard at ride height on an 15 inch rim. The Top Hat of the spring hits the shock retaining nut when you hit a bumps in the road not a problem if sydney roads were flat but unfortunaly they have pot holes and irregularities. After you fit a 2 inch lower 1200 spring to a stanza strut you have actually nearly taken 4 inches out of a stanza spring as a stanza strut runs a longer spring standard. For a suspension sustem to function properly it needs a minumun of 50 mm travel from ride height to function properly. I am suprised more people dont have this problem with the stanza strut conversion otherwise they just dont realise their car is siting on the bumpstops. The other thing is to get the front controlarms to the right plane for maxium camber the control arms have to be straight if the car is to high the control arms slope down loosing the effect of having a longer control arm in their. I am not bagging the conversion but i was a little disappointed when i put them in and it was meant to fix my problem of not being able to fit trx rims on the car which it did but then i end up with a banging in the front end as their is not enough travel.

my coupe was fine as both a road car and now as a race car with standard length Stanza struts and spring perch height. Just so others know that coilovers aren't a "must-have".

Hey funkeyman. The coilover kits are noltec coilover tubes part number N44503 these come with coilover tubes to fit over the original strut and the top and bottom spring holders as well as the keys to adjust the height. The springs are eibach 8 inch long springs and 175 pounds wih 3 inch tender springs. The shocks are koni adjustable stanza shocks lowered 2.5 inches but they are an off the shelf part and i will post the part number tomorow as i have left the receipt at work. The front also runs a 28mm bump stops on the shock shaft also from noltec. Hope that helps you althought coilovers are expensive they are the only way to get the suspension travel needed to make the car truly fun to throw fast through corners

I finally have sorted out the front suspension dramas with the 1200. I had stanza struts in it with 2 inch lowered 1200 springs. This proved to be a problem as i didnt end up with enought suspension travel in the front in end as the top hat of the spring hit the bump stops so I finally bit the bullet bought 2.5 inch in the body lower shock absorbers had the stanza struts cut down 2.5 inches lower and a coilover kit welded on. The results. It absolutely transformed the car the car is beautiful over bumps doesnt bottom on even the biggest potholes and the benifits are now i am running a top adjusted koni adjustable shock and it easy to change the spring rates. I am using a 175 pound spring with a tender now and adjustable strut tops. The car is beutiful now its time to sort out the rear end I need new leaves for the rear where can i source these from as our suppliers from work dont sell anything like this. Will post some pics of struts soon as well as before and aftrer pics of the paint on it. New paint on car on thumbnail on left of screen.
