I would have bid $4000, but agree the vinyl top is a minus. For a car collector though, the top may be considered a plus as a 'rare' feature. Good thing I didn't buy it, I'd drive it every day and soon it wouldn't be a low-mile 1200 any more.

That has got to be a record high price for a stock Datsun 1200 in the USA. Remember, they only costed $1,850 back in 1971 ...

As far as I know, the record price for a stock 2-dr sedan has been $2500.

Of course modified 1200s have been sold for much higher prices, as it should be.

It ended up at $5200 USD. I stopped at $4500.

It looked like a very nice coupe. If it didn't have the vinyl top, I might have gone higher.

Oh well...

I'm going to throw a bid on this one if it doesn't climb too much higher.

If I win it, it's wash and drive on summer weekends only. I will put new whitewall tires on it, too...

more wishful than naive to think they'll leave it as is .... but more bizarre (apologies for the extra Z earlier) to make a comment in regards to the cost of the vehicle determining its outcome with a new owner

plus you must be old if you're going to be one of my elders, and i'm long past playing video games

Yah I was reading the local want ads, here is how it read.
"1972 datsun $100"
I called and asked what it was. He told me.... I said I will be right there.

listed it on ebay two weeks later. The buyer was from Florida. What do you figure the shipping on that was? I still dont know.
Last week my son (16)calls me and asks "whats an LB110?" WHY I ask? My friends parents have two of them that I can have for free..................... They are in my back yard now

One is a parts car body is much worse than the I sold on ebay. Any body want it? Im stripping all the usable parts. I just got the motor running tonite. Its a keeper
I will post pics of both of them if I find out where to put them.
Oh I also have some datsun parts on ebay now. B210 intake and header and z car intake adapters.

Mike

I missed that one! Bought for $100 and sold for $2025 -- nice going. Your orange coupe looks nice though similar ones at $1500 did not sell ... I guess it must have been the "stored 10 years in a garage" factor.

No matter, who ever pays this much money for a car is probably going to frankenstein it into a drag car anyway.

I totally disagree. There are plenty of "lesser" 1200's that could be bought for much less money and made into a track car. Anyone who spends $5k+ on this level of original goodness hopefully has enough class to keep it clean and STOCK. (Or if modded, able to revert back to stock when the time comes to pass it on...)

I dig the vinyl roof...
