I dont know if its just me but i never knew there was a datsun 1600 look-a-like in the form of a ute.its known as the Datsun 521 pickup and theres an earlier model representing the bluebird desgin, known as the datsun 520 pickup. I came accross two examples of them out at richmond in a padock, the 521 has 6 stud drums on the front sounds fun Shocked the owner has them for sale, said make an offer, if not they'll continue to rot.
heres some pics, not the best of photo's but you can work them out.

from datnet....

way back in the 80's i attended an auction, purely because there was a 1200 ute for sale.
the first & only bid was for $6500.for a stock
1200 ute with no radio, plastic floor covering,
stock wheels, etc.so $2500 doesn't seem too bad.1200 utes are always going to be worth more because they're in demand.good luck in finding a nice (cheap) one.

Hey maztec - Just be paitent mate...... I scoured the trading post / websites etc. for months looking for a suitable project ute. I ended up finding one with a bit of rust for $1000...... And wouldn't you know it, the week after I bought it there was one advertised "No rust, body only" for $500.
Good things come to those who wait.

as far as I know there is no ute based on the 1600.

that ute in the ozdat feature pages has been made custom from a sedan.

they did however bring out 520, 620 and 720. All with the L series 4 cly (I believe)
