GTRs are notorious money pits, and friends that have had them forever seem to be fixing, modifying or otherwise just tipping money into them.

Good on you Harry. I can't say In wouldn't do the same if I didn't need both of my kidneys.

sorry to hear that 1200coupe. that's a very neat 1200. Rallying is very expensive, and CAMS and/or ARCOM seem to mess with that sport alot more than other forms of racing.

B120dat, I haven't spoken to him yet, but my car will more than likely go to a guy I've been racing against in a very good 1600. He's one of those diehard 1600 blokes, but has finally seen the light this year and has been talking about finding a 1200 coupe to fit his driveline into. I think he'll jump at the chance, and I'll still get to see it compete at the pointy end and know its in good hands.

Whats done is done. Good to here your gonna have a new toy! The r32GTR is my favorite of all GTRs!! Make sure you give it hell

What are you gonna do to the Coupe Harry? sell as is or something else?

1200coupe don't feel bad - only a few people race for more than 3 seasons. Life and priorities change - embrace it and move on.

I can understand the position you are in and sometimes we have to make decisions we dont really want to make.
I am currently considering selling my rally coupe simply because of the ongoing expense of the sport. I am not happy about even considering it but it might be my only option because I'm sick of throwing money at rally because of the continual changes deemed necessary by CAMS.
I know I am going to regret it because in my opinoin there is nothing that compares to rallying a good 1200 through the forests at speed. I can see some sad days ahead if I sell so I know exactly how you feel L18_B110. I hope you enjoy your new GTR.

put a deposit on the GTR yesterday afternoon after driving a few more and then this white one again, and giving it the once over on a hoist.

the 1200 is going. I know it will be sad to see it go, but I think its worse to leave it sitting in a corner not being used. The coupe is simply not an option for a daily driver. And like I said, I've had my fun with it. I've never owned a car as long as that coupe - its 10 years now I worked out last night. I've developed it as far as I can without throwing ridiculous amounts of money at it that will simply not add to its value, and for almost the same $$$ I need to spend to get it up and running as fast as it was last year, I'll get into this pretty damn quick GTR, which will be a whole new challenge. And it will probably not loose much value at all.

No point keeping the 1200 - if I haven't done anything about getting it back on the track all year while I don't have another fun car to drive at events, I can't see myself doing anything to it once I've got the GTR! And it will most likely go to a mate involved in motorsport up here.

There's no-one competing in 'proper' events up here in a GTR, and I've only ever seen one or two other Skylines at an event ever. I think this GTR should be really fast striaght out of the box with some race tyres added, and there's some very strong WRX's competing up here as well as the odd modern Porsche to try and annoy. I'm really looking forward to it!

If the 1200 goes shotgun coming over and raiding you for parts seeing you wont need them anymore. Do what pleases you though not what keeps others happy.

harry,i reckon you sell the dr30 & the patrol, keep fixing up the 1200 with the ca18,& buy the r32.as you said,everybody knows the 1200.
this makes you a standout when you compete.
racing the r32 will make you just another skyline.skylines are so common now it takes a
massive amount of effort to stand out.believe it or not,at bathurst speedweekend last year,people were coming over to see the beige sunny,saying they'd heard about it.i never thought that'd happen.in the end,all we can make are suggestions.it'd be nice to see the 1200 at bathurst again,see if i can run with it without blowing the gearbox again.
