As much as I hate to say it, the owner of the bright green 1200 2dr appears to have learned something from the Aussies ...

(Probably a datsun1200.com lurker.)

modern engines in period styled cars. These things are fantastic! Having seen those pics, why would anyone ever fit 17" wheels, cut up the front for intercoolers, and paint their old school cars in ugly modern colours ever again???

That's not the same red truck from South America that matbighat reported on is it? If so, it looks like some body work and paint has spiffed it up.

Actually from Central America, and yes it is the same guy. The watanabes and fender mirrors are a nice addition, but Lord knows why he painted his beat up hood flat black.

Hmmm , 20 years ago when a friend bought our 1200 from a High School buddy it was just an old Japo-crap wagon in the eyes of most car people.........and now whenever I tow the car to the track I get at least two people at the track or on the way who say "cool a Datsun 1200 we/I/friend had one of those"
Amazing how times change so I suspect in time the B210/120Y will get it's due.....they were raced heavily as well.
I'm still taken a back as when I first raced the car in 89 it was still just an old car then.
Now I am jealous of how clean those 1200's are , mine looks good from 5-10ft but up close well it's a race car.

It's hard to tell, but i thought it looked like it is left drive. I think i can just make out a steering wheel on the left side of the car. Was Okinawa still left drive in the early '70's?
