Oh true, well hopefully it's not to stuffed already. I'll try and get it to a mechanic this week sometime...

Thanks Daniel

Well, if it's a CA18 box, then it might be cheaper to repair it, & the sooner you get to it, the less damage it will be doing to itself.

If you do overhaul it, you will at least have a known quantity, whereas you are taking a certain calculated risk with a used item.

Yeah my brother said it may be a bearing... Well i think thats the right way to go, get a mechanic to look at it and then a replacement. But the only problem is it's a CA18 box, so I don't think $10 will cut it, haha. Thanks dodgeman

Check the oil level in the gearbox first.
If the oil level is good, then it would seem that there may be a bearing starting to fail.
If this is true, then the only remedy is to pull the box & repair or replace it.

Second hand 56A gearboxes go for as little as $10 if you're at the right place at the right time.

Hey guys, I was wondering if someone could help me. I just got my car re-registered the other day and me and a mate took it out for a drive. The problem is the gearbox feels a bit weird and when in 1st, 2nd 3rd and a little in 4th, the gearbox makes a loud winding sound and gets higher with the revs....can anybody tell me what this problem is and if they've had it fixed an approximate price please?? Thanks guys
