Thanks, this info will probably help other people over the next few years ...

Here's a comparison of the ignition switches. They are use the same connector, but watch the wiring, they can be different:

Year: 1972

The sunny one was a perfect fit.

Also, a 120Y that I have been picking parts off looks as if its ignition assembly is the same as well. Looks the same plus the same model number as the sunny one. So I'd say it would be ok too.

Not sure of the year model of the cars that I picked parts from.

Thanks for the tip. I had no idea the B310 (Sunny) key lock assembly would bolt to the 1200 steering column.

What year is your 1200 ute?

Thanks everyone for their comments.

I got a igntion switch form a 120y (just the switch not the lock, tumbler, etc) and found that it was completely different.

Sourced a lock, tumbler, etc from a datsun sunny. After pin punching out the two blank screws, the sunny one went in perfectly.

Cheaper than $80.

I bet it screws up next week

The ignition switch should only be around $20 USD (I just bought one).

The key lock cylinder (keylock) is about the same: RockAuto Parts Catalog

If you need the entire keylock mechanism (cylinder & barrel), $25: ACDELCO CYLINDER,IGN LK W/ 7 TUMBLER LOCK CYLINDER

just use a momentary button as a switch :D

so you'll just need to press the button to start the car

Mine is a 1972 model.

Switch has two screw lugs and is pin out compatible with a 120y switch (which is smaller and only has one lug).

Reckon stanza or sunny will fit a '72?

Thanks for your reply!
