I see rotary oil coolers sell on Ebay for $20-40 all the time. I bought a 13 row Serck cooler for my set up. I'm also running thermostatic sandwich plate with -10 lines and fittings. Cost heaps but hopefully will save this motor from cooking on the track.

for oil cooler systems there are temperature regulators to only send a small amount of oil to the cooler until the engine warms up, that way the oil isn't too cold, and the engine warms up quicker. The check valve is used in dry sump systems, I use on on the outlet or the oil pump, so I only ever have to re-prime a small amount of the system.

i belived that you want something like this.
my setup was made by me and does not have any valves or outher sings .just take the oil out to paas on the radiator to cool down and goes back to the engine.no valves no nothing.can see for what purpose.just a radiator ,2 tubes and the sanwich plate.

see the pictures on my profile

Yeah, I also belive it will have a little negative effect on Coolant temp as opposed to an external cooler.

I am still tossing up whether to pump the oil through this then to the turbo or run them seperately. The first way would only cool oil for the turbo.

phunk that cooler looks quite good and would be ok for the street. However when you give your engine a constantly hard time like circuit racing/rallying or drifting and aftermarket one is a must as you will need the flow it produces.
I got a permacool one from rocket industries which does up to 250hp for $200 with all lines adapters etc etc.

In my 1200 wags I will be running an Auto Toyota Hiace radiator and pumping oit through its cooler. By the looks of it, its just like the honda oil coolers except the hondas are external.

I was told that the AT coolers usually have smaller passages or at least smaller fittings that can't flow enough oil to use as an engine oil cooler.
I found an engine oil cooler in a van conversion (mini motor home) at the junk yard. I took the trans cooler too. Both are about the same size and style, but the trans cooler has much smaller fittings.
I would assume that an autotrans doesn't flow as much fluid as and engine does. It's just an assumption as I have no numbers to back it.
At the junkyards around here, turbo cars, diesels, vans and some pickups usually yield engine oil coolers.

do any cars come with oil-coolers that i might find at a wrecker?

early rotary engined mazdas - but they might not be so easy to find in wreckers.

Often aftermarket turboed diesel 4WD's have small oil coolers added as part of the kit. Have a sticky-beak at Hiluxs in particular as they were commonly fitted with aftermarket turbos.

hi .on my 120y(b210) i have mounted on the front off the water cooler radiator a oil cooler that i take from a lancia delta turbo.
i buy a "sandwich" to take the oil from the normal circuit to pass by the radiator.this "sandwich" is place betuin the oil filter and the oil pump.it cuts the passage from the oil pump and takes to the radiator and return to the filter and so on.
if i can ,a will take a picture off this assembly and put it tomorow or next time.
the oil runs more cooler and stay more clean and not burned or dark .i have monted this at 5 monthes ago and make more or less 2ooo kms and the oil is clean like new.
