My dad ran 160hp through a h165 and I know of a couple of 2ltr sport sedan stanza that where running NA sr20's with the h165
its like any diff if you look after them and make sure they are in good condition before you put them in
run things like additives etc
and make sure the diff holds enough oil, it all helps
in a sunny you can disconect the top arms and lower the nose of the diff to make sure you get a good amount of oil in not to much though read a stanza manual for how much
its really only abuse that kills most diffs
oh and a H190 in a sunny use's up about 60mm of suspension travel not the greatest conversion

they're the same lengths, but the stanza ones are heavier, which means stronger to me.both sunny's i've put bigger diffs into i've used the stanza arms.

yeah that sounds like the go mate, Ive just found a h165 LSD out of a stanza and the engine that's in that stanza was a L20b with 87 rear wheel kilowatts used for rallying, so i think it should be alright. Im just gonna see how long the h150 will hold on for before I change it over. PS.. are the trailing arms the same?

it all depends on how much is a fair amount.i've used h165's behind 150 hp a15's with no problems, including static burnouts, but what could be the killer is the torque.if i was you i'd give it a go,because there's no straight bolt in h190,you'd need serious work to get one in a sunny.i've used the housing out of a c120 van, but had to have the mounts welded on.the housing from a s12 gazelle needs the mounts for the bottom trailing arms reworked, but this housing is wider than stock(so is the stanza but only by one inch),so different offsets are needed for the rear wheels.again, give the stanza diff a go,if it doesn't last, then you can worry about what else to do.

how strong is the h165 b310gx? Will it handle an L18 with about 150hp with a fair bit of abuse? If not, how easy is it to put a h190 in it?

a japanese model h165 rear end will bolt right in,& if you get the a 1200 ute tailshaft, it should fit with no worries.i,ve done a 63a gearbox to a h165 rear into a sunny, using a 1200 ute tailshaft with a stanza front yoke,it worked perfectly.

i need to know which complete rear end assembly will fit into a sunny, with minimal modification. I of course want something stronger than a h150, it will have to handle a well worked L series with plenty of bitumen abuse. I just got a pay rise so now i can mod my engine further :D
