the ironman weekend is good fun. I'll post up details when next year's calendar is sorted out. It would be great to have you guys up here, and I can promise you the officials aren't so, shall we say, over-zealous up here...

Loved seeing & hearing your A-Series power Benny. Is that Feral in the vid with you?

Great Pics and Vid's. Many thanks to Mad Timo and Evilsim. Thanks guys. The track is just a blast to drive on at speed. I think this track is about technique and taking the best line you can for approach to the next corner.....

It is nothing like you might think, from watching the "Big race " over the years on the television. To keep a car together, lap after lap at speed on this circuit is an amazing effort....

My car went extremely well all weekend [apart from throwing a fan belt]. Thanks to Feral Errol for the Series II Bluebird elect dizzy, the engine feels so much stronger throughout the whole rev range. The car needs and bit of work on steering geometry and allignment, as it felt a bit floaty at high speed on conrod. [dont think i have ever been faster]. Brakes were awsome, pulls up like a champ.
Over all the weekend was a blast...

It was great to meet up with some of the other members that contribute/belong to this site. L18_B110 did an amazing effort on debut in the GTR in the hillclimb, 1st in class and 3rd outright for the day. Harry's mate "Ferris" in his mighty early model civic, that car is a rocket for what it is....picked up a class win as well.

I would love to have a go at Mt Cotton in QLD next year. Maybe a few others from the southern states will venture up to the sunshine state..

Maybe I should pull the finger out and build the A15 for next year, a bit more grunt would be handy.

cheers
Benny

The Ironman weekend sounds like fun!

I have just finished rebuilding the engine in the Sunny, and I am now looking to add a new turbo and new restrictor with cold airbox set-up. The plan is to create a set-up where I can take the restrictor out, and replace it with some straight pipe to do events like Datnats, Bathurst weekend and maybe even the Ironman weekend

It will be as simple as replacing the restrictor and loading in a new tuning map to the Motec........Should be fun!

Great news harry a very good time for that hillclimb Best result ive had was 53.22 last year so would have been very close on the day. how did your launching go??did you take old mate in the black R32's advice??
Ill try to get up your way next year for a blast once ive repaired and resorted the car give the QLD boys a run

I was a bit more agressive with the launching on Sunday, but I didn't quite bounce it off the limiter and dump it like he was suggesting!

I'm pretty sure you would blow away the class record at Mt Cotton! There's a few 3 day events to make the drive worthwhile:
* QLD Hillclimb Champs - practice on Sat and competition on Sunday.
* the Ironman weekend which has a sprint at QR and a motorkhana on Sat, and Mt Cotton Hillclimb on Sunday.
* 2day Supersprints Morgan Park.

yep MadTimo, that's my GTR. Thanks for the vid! I didn't know you came out for a look. Good footage of Benny and Jeff's 1200s too. Its also my GTR in the background of MadTimo's pic with Andrew coming into the pit entry on our red-flagged run. And yes, he did hand my arse to me! That coupe is seriously #$%*&@! fast

I got out gunned by a couple of other R32 GTRs on Conrod on Sat that just had too much power for me. I ran against both of them during the day, and got left for dead in the drag down the straight. (But not by nearly as much as Andrew's 1200!) And there simply isn't enough opportunity to make up any significant amount of time through the corners in that Supersprint. but it was an absolute blast coming into the Chase at over 220kph. Took a while before I was game to try it flat out!

I won my class on Sunday's Hillclimb with a best of 52.00.I wasn't even in the top ten on Saturday, but managed to get 3rd outright on the Hillclimb. That was an awesome bit of road to take at full noise, and put all the years of watching Bathurst 1000 into perspective. Those guys have some serious kahunas...

It was a memorable weekend, great meeting Benny, Jeff and evilsim, and to catch up with Andrew. I hope you can make it up here for an event next year - that would be fantastic!

Thanks for the heads up the photo website. How cool is that Valiant?! I got to see the Aussie race series awhile ago. Those things are incredible. Very close racing with plenty of moments.
