Hey Guys. Time for another update.

I've got a whole lot of JUN/Tomei bits for the valvetrain. They'll go in over the next couple of months. Waiting on the lifters (should only be a week or two) and will need to measure them up before ordering the lifter shims.

I also got a new 0.64 housing machined to suit the big turbine in my turbo..wow what a different car to drive!.. I mean totally. Although that might have something to do with the raised boost I got by changing the housing. Now pushing closer to 13psi, and the rear end gets loose in a straight line, and old people are waving at me angrily as I drive past with the engine on full song.

I need to sort out my front end, when I back off on the fun pedal, the car feels very unstable at over 100kmh. Probably just needs a little more toe-in or castor, but with the stanza lower arms, the negative camber is quite obvious. I plan on taking it to someone that knows their suspension/datsun stuff, for them to sort it out once and for all. The last wheel alignment guy had no idea, which kind of scared me off them for a while.

I've got a few places in mind to do the suspension.

I put an alarm in the car the other day. That went well.

The car is definitely fun again. Got rego due next month! I need to get a couple of little niggling things sorted before I start dreaming of track days.

I learnt that with my second CA. It's virtually impossible to change the hoses under the plenum so I waited till I replaced the motor and then fitted new EVERYTHING!

With a panhard rod on a 1200 sedan, it is difficult to place the bar in a way that will ensure that the diff goes generally up and down. The watts linkage appears to be an easier (not easy) way of achieving this.

I know that my current setup makes the housing move through an arc, so that when it's at the bottom of it's travel, it rubs on one sides inner guard. That's why we put the adjustable bit in the centre of the panhard rod to 'readjust' the central position depending on the ride height.

The racing guys place the centre pivot onto an adjustable mount on the body, and the arms onto the diff. This allows adjustment of the roll centre from in the cabin, as they have levers/actuators to move the centre link up and down depending on the track conditions/corner.

As the 1200 isn't as top heavy as a falcon, so the position of the roll centre for the falcon diff should be nice and low for the 1200.

So that's my current thinking in regards to the watts linkage.

Like I always say....no project is ever 100% complete.

What sort of benefits will you get out of fitting the watts linkage?

Another couple of days working on the datto has been good.

1. Found the split hose and replaced it.
Split breather hose

2. Got the parts for the watts linkage today.
Got them from a Ford Fairlane, $25. Comes painted black. Lots of polishing today..my arms are hurting.

So now I need a wheel alignment. My old man (who's on holidays) agreed to go check that out tomorrow.

Alright..I had to pull off the plenum to find the oil leak, but I did find it. Nothing too bad.

Just another f'n hose that's impossible to get to has split.

The inch diameter breather hose, from near the oil filter split up the middle. So it was just blow by, blowing out under high revs.

I've gotta find some replacement hose. I'm lucky the shops are open today.

Lesson to learn here is?

Always replace all of the hoses on a CA18 before transplanting them into a Datto.

DOH! got it. That's about 184hp @ rear wheels. Silly hp in a 1200 for sure.

Now, imagine the SR20DET 510 guy here in Socal with 300 hp @ wheels not satisfied and moving up to 500 hp @ wheels

And I'm pretty sure you'd clean up my 170kw atw RS without the extra boost.

BigHatMatt.. This aint no flywheel kW. ...I'm quoting at the wheels. We are talking 130-160% of original power at same boost dude Bit like 300% power in it's original S13 Silivia shell.

Andrew with his 200+kW @20psi got about the same at 7psi.

7psi is wet weather boost.

Maybe boring.. But faster than I remember the last fast turbo car I've been in. @7psi.. you know what I'm talkin' about!

Better idle control than stock computer..better off idle.. Better cold start.. Better overrun.. Can't ask for more.
