Hi! One of your members said aussiecoupes.com was mentioned here so I had to come look as that is me.

Yeah sure I drive F*rds but my roots are in Dato's. I won the state championship in the 4cyl class (drag racing) in a Dato 16 way back in 1987.

Always wanted a 1600 coupe but since moving to the USA I have been too busy to even think about one.

Cheers,

Phil

What is this? Are they decent cars? I like the lines. What do these go for in AU?

The 1972 LJ's were basically face-lifted LC models with substantial improvements. The GTR XU-1 now sported triple 175mm CD Strongberg side-draught carburettors and camshaft modifications, developing 190bhp, making it a very formidable beast. The four-speed XU-1 gearbox was now the Australian four-speed transmission, type M21. The GTR XU-1 was undergoing constant development, with each facet of the car being improved as required for racing, until the ultimate version was released in September 1972. It had stronger fine-spline rear axles, tubular exhaust headers (extractors) and 13x6 inch Globe Sprintmaster alloy wheels. The XU-1 engine featured a beefier block and pistons, new head casting and bigger cam, and boasted more than 200bhp. A GTR XU-1 (four speed) could cover the quarter in 15.6 seconds, which was pretty formidable for a small road car. The XU-1 went on to dominate Australian Touring Car Racing and won the famous Bathrust 1000-kilometre race.

gosh DD you should come and live here if you like Aussie Muscle cars. They may have been brought over by Ford Australia as promo cars??? maybe???
Anyway how is the American public reaction to the Monaro or Pontiac GTO as its called there?
I noticed one on the latest Herbie movie.

Yes, there's a few max cars over here, just clones though and not official ex-police models.

Just give me a stock XB GT. The ultimate Ford muscle car.

There are several Falcons over here, even a John Goss special. For some reason somebody even brought over an LTD Brougham. Most of them come through Portland or Seattle.

Simple - it's the car max drives before he drives the interceptor!

the thing is I think XA-XC coupes look better WITHOUT the "mad max" crap...

but then again XA-XC coupes don't rust... ...They dissolve!!

EDIT... the front of that car is what the "Interceptor" looks like before the ####ty nosecone got put on there...

and NO I don't like what they did to it... but hey... its a FORD!...
