"Has any1 had any experience with fitting these or hotdogs to their system, what did it sound like?"

i've fited a hotdog to my exhaust once...it cooked quite nicely on a 5min drive.. it was a cheese sausage with garlic.

I might try a kranski next time

QUOTE "B120DAT! They're nice looking headers. Can you give us a clue for the price you paid and where from!"

These are the HiTech headers. We have a set on both the road car and the race car (race car is coated)
They are very different in length however so we are going to build a set of equal length tuned pipes over the next month or so.
Reason being is that we are sitting pretty much at the top end of "A" series output so are hoping to extract the last bit before following the inevitable and eventually swapping to a CA or SR
Price should be in the vicinity of $280-$300

yes here in CA, we have to have catalytic converters. I'm probably going to loose mine when i'm turbo'd. Since my car is totally illegal I have to go out of state to register it, and that state probaly won't require a cat. They're not really necessary with lpg.

That being said in a state where they are required they have gotten good at making ones that flow well and if your car is tuned right then it won't be getting hot.

So It's not a big deal really.

mine's 2.5" through the cat too, so no losses in there really.

I'll have to reread the ADR rules, as far as i could tell it went on the build date of the chasis. I could be wrong.

either way, you cant argue with engineers. everyone knows they are always right..

If you put in an engine thats later than a 1986 model than you need to comply with the appropriate standards (such as a cat).
They even made me put rear setbelts in my 1600 even though they didn't come out with them and aren't supposed to be needed for pre-1973

as the cars before 1986 (?havent checked the date, i assume thats right) were before the australian design rule which enforced cats.

Pre 75 or 76 means even less rules. And i think pre 73 means bugger all ADR, i think basically all you need is working windscreen wipers and front seatbelts.

The weird thing is I've seen engineers make people put cats on their 1969 1600. I'd be asking where and why.... They are expensive items, if they arent needed :)
