You can always pickup brand new Hi-Flow Cats for around $200 on ebay. If your running on unleaded you really should have one to take out all the nasty's regardless of the year your car was manufactured. I bought mine awhile ago, but have yet to have my exhaust done.
Would love to see a picture of yours once it's on. Good luck

In the US if its a non cat car you dont.. They have a sticker under the hood or on the driver door stating cat or non cat. Dont know if this helps you folks or not. I know your engneer things are far different than ours from what Ive read good luck. A cat in the U S know more than 300.00 for a basic setup.

Emissions ADRs

ADR 27A for non-catalyzed vehicles
ADR 37 for catalyzed vehicles (early eighties).

If you've ever seen the with/without comparisons in emissions for cat convertors, you wouldn't be whinging about having one.

It cuts emissions by 90% with such little power loss. It's amazing!

It depends on the engineer..but it's the FIRST thing that a cop looks for. So having one is VERY cheap insurance against defects.

Most modifications should make effort to reduce emissions, that's a good reason to do a transplant. A much better excuse than needing a CA powered Ute to do burnouts in a McDonalds carpark...

Cheers,
Chris

Talk to an engineer. I have been told that I don't need to run one as the 1200 ute is classified as a commercial vehicle.
