the two little wires on the back of the alternator (I think there's 2 little and one big) If you get them the wrong way around you'll have symptoms like you describe. I was sure I did it right and fiddled with everything (fried a good section of loom in the process ) Then decided to switch those two wires around and away she went.

dont know if this helps you... but it might

Yeah I read it but not sure which wire you're talking about...
I disconnected the regulator harness and placed a single jumper wire
connected the earth wire, battery wire and the idiot light "F"
can you let me know which wire was that?

Hey Razor , did you read the tech section on swapping to an internal reg. alternator. There is a wire that needs to be cut & hooked together. That is where your problem lies if you didn't make this change.

Hey casper thanks for the reply
from what I tested the engine is cranking nicely if I short the strarted solenoid to +ve side of battery but wont do anything at all if I try to start it with the ignition key and also no power.
The external regulator harness is now disconnected for the alternator with internal regulator
checked the fuse under the dash/steering side and no blown fuse/fuses

*remember this no power problem only occured while on alternator swap

i can help you. go over this checklist. if it isnt one of these than its fubar.try to start it after each.

-replace the power cable on the batterey, and the small accesory wire

-replace the ground cable

-check your transmision wires (automatic only) make sure that your park neutral swith is connected.

-check your fuse box for blown fuses

-see if your ignition is loos on the steering colum.

if turns over but wont start
- check your coil wire
-check to see if you have spark

if non of these work ask me again and ill tell you some even smaller things to check

OK I tried it again I made a wire connected it to the solenoid and touched it to the battery + side and its cranking but it wont start
so that tells me the solenoid is good right something wrong with the wire on the ignition switch side?
