depends what you are grinding, and how much, maybe post a pic. if it's like what I think it is, then cutting it that much is probably not good. I had to make room for clearance of maybe 1 - 2 mm, and just 3 mm wide across each of the spokes where they start at the center where they're thick.

Would it be good to grind the calipers as opposed to the wheels? In my stock 1200 the caliper housing is sticking out about 3/4 inch from the rotors and this is what's hitting the rims...

I am contemplating of grinding it off to flush against the rotor so I can get my rims installed.... is this a good idea???

yes, that is his store.

you might want to save up and get the better setup. I had to buy it in parts for like a year.

bottom line - it's all better than stock especially if you have a 1200. too bad i just sold my old 81 210 front strut setup, it'd be a good starting place for a 1200. So maybe get a sunny front strut and all that good stuff and convert that, then it's all boltins ( sort of ... )

Hmm.. I can spare about $300-$400 for the suspension for now.

Is that his ID name on Ebay "Paul's Fab"?

Thanks for the help!

decide how much $$ you have.

cheap route: ~ $300 USD
get coilover conversion kit for 1200 struts
might as well get camber and castor plates ( get ones that adjust both if possible... )
might need bump steer spacers

more expensive and involved route: ~$2000USD
81 280zx turbo struts - shortned with 240sx adjustable struts and coilovers, wilwood brakes, bump steer spacers, etc... camber plates, adaptors for the wilwood calipers, stainless lines

if you only want to spend about $300 then the cheap route is good, but your choice of strut cartridge may not be good.

that is the advantage of the more expensive route, is it uses parts that are easier to find and have more performance parts.

the expensive route makes a really nice feeling car. try 150# springs not 200! car is kind of rough for our bad roads, but the car actually feels very tight at 95 mph.

where does this stuff come from?
-
paul's fab on ebay
groundcontrol
noltec - you'll want the bushings ( don't know if they have em for a 1200 )

ang94541 - do you have pics of your calipers after shving? are you still using your stock brake setup?

B210 - do you have a parts list for your front end conversion?

I had to grind a bit off of my calipers to get my wheels to fit.

With an electric fan, I like that there is less hanging on the water pump and my fan belt is set a little looser. My water pump should last forever.

Some torque freed up with electric fan.

Easiest way to lower is to get a coilover kit. Spacers are kind of a way of life, every datsun show i go to i look and nobody has wheels that fit properly.

I've heard 240z springs might be the right size after having some coil off.

Is there a significant gain on switching to an electric fan?

Also, what has the US 1200 owners been using to help lower their fronts? I got some 14" from a 240z and I got the rears to fit but the fronts wouldnt fit because of the brake calipers is on the way???

Any ideas?
