Now take the sample to Rare Spares and/or Scottys and tell them there is a market and this is how they should look
I'm reluctant to take the back windows out of my 2 coupes incase they needed rubbers

And another thanks from me Chris!

I will also have to do this in the near future - I took out the rear windscreen a while ago and the rubber was so bad I had to slice the window out...
I'd talked to a windscreen dude about sealing the window back in and he said it was possible, but this way is much more 'traditional'.

Cheers!

Thanks Dodgeman! You're help here is greatly appreciated as I too will be attempting this some time in the next 12 months... and there's no point in us all spending weeks learning how to do things ourselves.

One of the things I think makes this website one of the best car enthusiest websites on the net is the sharing of information that goes on here. For me at least, it takes the frustration and pain out of an enjoyable and rewarding afternoon in the shed.

You should have no real problems with your sedan as a back window rubber is listed for it I believe.
It's the coupe that has a problem with these corners.

Check out Scotts Old Auto Rubber. for more info.

New back window rubbers are not available for KB10's from any place that I looked at, so I had to resort to other means.

Fortunately, help was at hand.
The problem with them is that despite the fact that they have four square corners on the outside, they have only two square ones on the inside.

This is a top corner. It is the same as a windscreen corner & has a square outer
flange as well as a square inner seal.

This is the lower outer of the rubber & it has a square flange.

The inner seal has a round corner & this corner piece is not manufactured by any of the replacement rubber companies. It's this part that is preventing KB10 owners from being able to buy a new back window rubber. The other parts are the same as the windscreen rubber, so a new Coupe screen seal was cut up to make a new back window one.

Fortunately the screen rubber is longer, so material was cut from the offcut piece
to fabricate a new square flange in the lower corner.
It might look less than perfect in this close-up shot, but most will be covered
with the trim.

This is the inside with a nice round corner. The flange was reinforced here where two pieces join.

There were a couple of trial runs with offcut pieces & it took a while to do, but I have a new seal. We'll see how good it is when we try to fit it.
