There's always a chance something else is wrong. It's a question best answered by the shop that looked at it.

Thank you for the info. I just got word from a yard in Idaho that they have the axle I need, it came out of a 80 510. He, also educated me on the fact that the hub is in front, drum in back. So, he will be checking on the rear passenger side drum as I may be needing it as well. I would say great price as well, $45 for the axle, $25 freight. Though I am worried that I am going to need something else. Any chance of it? Thanks again!!!

Hi Bryan,

The axle and hub are one piece.

The H190 leaf-spring rear assembly can be made to fit your coil-spring 510, about as easily as a Mustang or Camaro rear end can be made to fit.

Keep looking until you find a 510 rear axle. One axles is easier to change than the entire axle assembly. Here is the Pacific Northwest it is not too hard to find a circa 1980 510 is a wrecking yard, but it will take some work. Visit 10 'old-car' wrecking yards and you may find a car at one of them ...

Or, just visit your local Nissan dealer and have them order a new axle for you ... a new one requires the additional cost of a new wheel bearing and the cost of pressing the bearing on.

Hi there, I was referred to this site as I am in need of a rear axle or so I have been told. I have a 71 PL510 saloon and a 78 HL510 Coupe. The 78 is my daily driver and was hit hard in the passenger side rear quarter panel. I drove it home, but the wheel was wobbling bad. My local shop looked at it and said the axle is bent, though in looking at it I can't tell, the axle looks straight, maybe it's just the hub? They stated the rim is ok. I am not a mechanic by no means though and the shop has never given me a reason to not believe them. Anyways, the rear end is a H165 and I really need to get my driver back on the road. I found a guy that has a complete H190 rear end, but it is leaf springs versus the H165 end links. Being in Michigan it doesn't help in trying to find parts. So, my questions are a few things, so here goes. Can the H190 rear end be used in my car? If so, are the fabs/mods major and could a place do it? Can a bent axle, hub, or whatever the damage is be repaired if I can't find what I need? If either of those 2 questions is a negative, can anyone help? All feedback, assistance, or info is greatly appreciated. Thank You! Bryan @ bryanbarc@yahoo.com
