pic pics pics pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111

Im very interested in this exercise...
as you know the ve engines are very strong and rev hard. The ecu to do cam timing is also complex and really cant be replicated on an aftermarket ecu unless the tuner is einstein.
I would love to see pics and the end result.

I looked inot this idea, but at the time 2 years ago there was nowhere near enough infor around. I heard of it being done once however no specifics as to how it was done and how successful it was.
Tell me are you using the VE head on the S14 block?? How are you planning to overcome the dizzy sticking out of the head which will interfere with the firewall once in the car? If you delete the dizzy then you can use the factory ecu. Im my class of racing if i cut the firewall that was also illegal.
Anyways very interesting please keep us posted.....

I can tell you what I have done , so you know its not speculation.
I got an S14 RWD complete engine (de) cheap.
Bought an Sr16ve VZR FWD engine.
Completely dismantled both.
Put crank / rods / pistons into S14 block.
They go straight in (same journels etc:)
Blocked up an oil return in head, put a restrictor in the front of the RWD block.
Fitted SR16ve front cover and oil pump to RWD block.
Adapted head as per SR20 forums / tap head , block existing hole and feed oil to cams from oil pump using steel braided line.

As it is going in my rally car I have no concerns about mdding the firewall to clear the cam solenoids or dizzy.
I did look at remotely mounting the solenoids , and may well address this at a later date, modified standard dizzy to fit CAS.

I did it like this mainly as a time saving thing, Its easier/faster to swap blocks than muck around making adapter plates etc: and I already run a A15 with a silvia 6 speed gearbox, so I can fit a standard bellhousing to the gearbox and it will bolt stright onto the SR20 block.

You need a link ecu or similar.
Need to swap around inlet plenum or make a custom one./

Its pretty easy to make 180hp from one of these sr16ve's so its quite an economic way of making a good drunty engine compared with spending 5 grand on an A15 to make less power .....

Happy to assist anyone needing help with htis pm me .

we should prolly start a new thread for the ga16de but oh well

the rwd version comes in some weird nissan minivan or sportute

if you can source one, you'd be better off having an importer get you both the motor & tranny since the head has that fwd dizzy issue

I have certainly considered it. But that would require me to change the body on my car to either a MX5 or a MX3. I like the B13 body better than either of those options.

Nissan body = Nissan engine where I want to race it.

Has anyone considered using the motor and gearbox from an early MX5?
