ok, i think he's asking if you have to use the magnetic pickup in the dizzy or can you use the higher level signal that the dizzy uses to trigger the coil and you'd use to drive a tach...

I am lazy, my aftermarket ignition uses the coil - signal that used to hook to the HVC, and i drive it using that, and the coil + powers the aftermarket ignition since it has it's own special coil.

Someday when the ignitor in my dizzy dies, I plan on either taking the ignitor out and using the magnetic pickup in the dizzy, of course changing the trigger from the coil - to use the 2 mag pickup wires.

so you can go either way. If you have an Ignitor dizzy there's no reason to use the mag pickup unless you're bored or the ignitor is bad.

I would say for anything under a GT-prep motor the vaccum advance mechanism staying intact is not going to hurt you at all. But for a hot IT or GT-prep motor, lock out the vaccum advance and set your advance manually to about 15-17 initial (about 1000 R) for a total of 33-34.

when hooking up a msd 6al box.do you leave the stock coil wires and or the distributor wires??this is a magnetic pickup distributor..how do i go about?
