What was their intended purpose? I think they where just a sport option.However they looked like a Rally Wheel they where almost soild they only had small slits near the outside of the wheel and had NISSAN cast on the outer lip.
It would seem that these wheels would have either been dealer fitted at customers request, or fitted by a new owner after he got it home.
I still wonder what these wheels were off as they do not appear in my 1200 parts book or the 1200 option list.
The ute was regarded back then as the lowliest of the low & price was an all important selling point, so anything that they could legally leave out, like chrome on the bumpers & grille, a second visor, heater etc. was deleted to save money. Including sports wheels on a ute at the factory strikes me as being a bit too much to readily accept, so for the moment, I will stay with my belief that no 1200 model left the factory with 13" wheels.
Come to think of it, if they were available ex-factory, you would think that you would see more than a few GX models with them, but no-one seems to have seen them. [yet]
