$250 is a fair price ... and he SOLD them. The Nissan dealer price is $408.07 USD each. I'm a bit surprised he found buyers (I wouldn't pay that much), but so be it.

16010-H3902 is for 1972 model year USA 1200s with manual transmission.

USA Carb summary:
1971 - manual choke
1972 - auto choke
1973 - auto choke w/anti-diesel valve

---------------------

-0571man choke (DCG) has servo (H19 - KB110U '70.5)
NOTE: top same as CRANK models
16010-H1900 DCG306
16010-H1901 DCG306 -0970

NOS stands for New Old Stock & NIB is New In Box.
That means that it is still new [unused, perhaps still in it's original box as these carbs are] but it is old stock. Stuff that has remained unsold since it was bought in by whoever still has it.
A part may have laid on the shelf for thirty years, so it is NOS.

NOS parts can be genuine, or non-genuine [sometimes called 'pattern parts'] so please, do not go off the handle because something is NOS. These carburettors were supplied to Nissan by an outside specialist manufacturer, in this case it was Hitachi & these outside suppliers are known as Vendors. Large percentages of many cars are provided by vendors. The car maker may make the engine, but vendors usually supply the gaskets & seals, distributors, starters, altenators, timing chains, bearings, pistons & rings, & many other parts, & thats just the engine, so 'genuine' does not necessarily mean that it was made by the car maker. They even use multiple vendors for some parts on the same car during it's production run. Datsun used both Nabco & Tokiko to supply brake parts for B10 & B110's.

Now, if these carbs came from a carb specialist shop, but were supplied direct from Hitachi back in the 70's, does this make them inferior?
Of course not, & while we're at it, just because something is non-genuine, doesn't automaticly mean that it's inferior. If something is inferior it is because it is substandard in design, material or workmanship, & this kind of part can come in 'genuine' boxes too.
By way of example, both Holley & Carter made a range of 'replacement' carburettors for popular US cars. If your old carb became unserviceable & uneconomic to repair, both companies had a nice new 'non genuine' replacement that would fit & work just as good as the original. Maybe even better. Non genuine does not necessarily mean inferior.

NOS is just that, still unused, but old stock. Nothing more.

Oh yeah, thats a 'genuine' Nissan [NOS] part number that he quoted.

There must be a lot of restaurants named tapatio ... ours up here is Seattle are not outrageous, just good food.

Nomore, I think it is likely some carbs have sold for $250 or more, that's how much the Nissan dealer charged and presumably people bought new parts. Now wether any of us would pay that much, I dunno.

I remember back in the '80s a carb for a Mitsubishi 4-cylinder was over $600 from the Chrysler dealer. And my friend paid the service dept. to replace it.

It's a joke ad.
No way, no day.

NO ONE in the US has paid 200-325USD for ANY stock US A12 1200 carb in the history of man & inflation adjusted. Either NOS, rebuilt or original, in any condition.

I do recommend Tapatio, for those really outrageous meals.

*I'm not mad at you. Just pissed off at the prices. I could be wrong of course. But I've never seen one go for that. If the outrageous prices keep up, I'll have to find a different car. Or just get over it. Easier said then done.

Keep in mind that this is $US which translates to $330 Au, plus freight or postage. Economy motoring comes at a high price it seems.

He did say he was ASKING $250 right?

Question is: Will he get it? How many does he have?

Says he has two, he might find them a bit hard to move at that price, but if you wanted to restore a 1200 to mint stock it might be good buying.
