I don't think you need a condensor. It is presumably for radio-frequency supression. (Points distributors must use them, however).

Yes, the black rectangle is the "condensor between coil + earth"

thanks!

just out of curiousity what yr does it says??

also, it looks like i was missing a condensor as i didn't see one on the old harness.
so if i got this right, a ignition wire goes to the + side of the coil then a wire goes from there to the black white terminal. Then a wire goes from the blue wire terminal to the - side of the coil.
what is throwing me off is the ground on the+ side of the coil. and that condensor is between the ground and the positive side right??

the numbers on the block is right by the distributor, the numbers are 600643
That's not a part number, it is the engine serial number which tells us very little except the year. Next to it, perhaps the next flat pad to the left, will be either "A12", "A14" or "A15".

sorry about that, i am not us to this setup on a forum site! lol

Yes that is it! from the look of the pic you posted it looks just like it! and the numbers on the block is right by the distributor, the numbers are 600643, i pretty much memorized it cause it has been bugging me for the last few days.

you believe that nissan dealer couldn't tell me what the motor is by part numbers off the motor, they said i needed a VIN # which is a problem for me! lol

i see a wiring diagram on that pic, but it is too small for me to make out, how can i blow that pic up so i can see it??

Thanks, for your help!! THis is really driving me crazy! lol

An A14 or A15 will have the number stamped ("A14" or "A15") on the block -- on the flat suface by the distributor.

Is it this distributor?

I am working on a frankenstien jeep pretty much, and it has a nissan motor in it. from looking at pics it looks like a A14 or A15 type motor.
Now my questions are, How can i better identify this motor? the only number i found are by the distributor which is, 600643. Also on the distributor i have this ignition module, that has 2 terminal on the top they create the L shape.
the module is almost a perfect square, what does this distributor need?? a ground or a positive wire?? and which terminal do i use??

Also if it helps I got this number off the top of the bell housing, 4D 8Z10080. Thanks!!
