C20 Vanette?

Vanette H190 diff vs 1200 H165 diff

Perhaps C20 diffs come in a variety of rations per engine as does the C120:

hi .
I write from Europe , and here :

for C120 vanette series (180-86):

H165 for A12 motor ratio ??
H190-ALfor A15 motor ratio 4.375
H190-ML for diesel LD20 motor ratio 4.11

for C220 or C22 vanette series(87-94) :
H190-ML for A15 motor ratio 4.875 ( five speed RS5W60A : I search one !!)
H190-ML for LD20 motor ratio 4.11( I bought one last week and placed in my c120 A15 van !!)

CAUTION : C22 van is 4cm broader than c120 series ! car and rear train too ..)
so i needed to cut 2cm on each driveshaft .

If your after the motor as well it would be a good deal. It could be an A15..although my vauge recollection says they came with A12's as well.

For my two bob, I would very strongly suggest that you get the rear axle assemblly that was designed for 1200's in the first place, the 1200 Ute item It may take a little bit of searching, but it will save you a lot of work, grief, & disappointment in the end. It will probably save you money in the long run too.

The Vanette diff will be a fairly low ratio & if you are using the car for street duty, & it is fitted with a good 1200, or better, engine, then you would be looking for another differential to fit in there anyway to stop it reving its little heart out in top.

If you fit a rear axle assembly that is too wide, you will need to use wheels with plenty of offset, which definately do not have the good visual appeal of wheels that heve a nice little bit of 'dish'.
Alternately, you need to find & fit flares & maybe even modify the wheel opening in the body in a worse case scenario.

Anyway, that's my suggestion, spend the time & effort, & money if need be, to find a Ute rear end & you won't be disappointed.

P.S. All 1200's have the same width rear end.

I can't get into contact with the seller yet but for $200 I think it is a great deal, the engine should be either an A14 or A15 yeah? what a bargain if so

you mention that the diff was a tad wide in the coupe but would that be the same for a B110 sedan?

Dodgeman you are right as usual ......
C20 Vanette - A series - H165 (4.875:1)
Vanette - bigger brother - H190 (alloy 4.6:1)
Thats what I have got anyway ....
Point to note - H190 stated above has 23 spline axles same as H165.
Cheers
