Yeah I just wish I'd thought of it before I'd bolted up the gearbox and the tailshaft!

Luckily I was able to lower the gearbox about 2 or 3 inches and hook on the clutch cable - from under the car - without having to unbolt the tailshaft.

I took a couple of pics I'll offload them from the camera soon and stick em on my website I think.

little things like this get forgotten when doing engine bolt ins, had the same thing with a 56 gearbox from a 120y in the ute at one time.

Lesson learnt from the weekend - can't hook up clutch cable to 60 series gearbox in a 1200 Coupe (manual) - without unbolting the gearbox crossmember and letting the gearbox drop a bit.

There is barely any clearance between the clutch lever on the gearbox and the transmission tunnel.

Next time I drop this engine in the car the lesson learnt is: Hook clutch cable to gearbox whilst installing the engine (or at least before bolting up the gearbox crossmember).

Hope someone else finds this info useful.
