good little engine the sohc 16v mitsu, very economical but needs all ecu and pollution gear etc. If you later decide on the ka24e or de you can get the crank pins machined to stroke it to 102mm and treated to take different rods and shorter pistons for a massive 2.6 litres 12 or 16v stroker.

I'll keep those in mind, however a later model injected Mitsu donk might be falling into my lap stupid cheap (for those familiar with Mitsu naming, single cam 16V 4G93).

It would be approx 100kw & return 8.0l/100km (the wife's lancer does) which would give me similar perfomance to a NA CA18, and being 1.8l I could force feed it later or replace it with the GSR lancer turbo version.

L series for turbo with z18 setup is straighforward.
KA and Z can be found in Ford corsair, nissan pintara, trx and the Z in commericals like vans, commuters and other utes etc.

are they really that much heavier than say an L20B with 5spd though?

the other idea would be force feeding an A14 but that's likely to only come close to the stock output of an astron & will only have the 4spd still.

what do the Z & KA series donks come out in stock? Early Navaras?

Z24 are cheap and ka24e head is cheaper and fits on using the dizzie from the z24 and use the cheap blubird or other l series box all match. Its all up to you.
Here pick a part have everything to make it happen on 50 dollar for a bare engine week.
All in all astron or Ka they are heavy anchors that will only assist in straight line action.

I sense a Broadhurst influence here Ash....

Or a Sigma Pete influence......

Broadhurst influence, though nothing is set in stone of course

it's a $$$ thing, even though a KA24 would be nicer, why spend all that money & effort tracking one down when I could do a CA18DET?

the whole Stigma would likely be under $300 all told, what engine for under $300 installed into the car with a 5spd is going to be better? cubes & X flow make it better than an L series IMO, Z series are impossible to find, let alone a RWD KA24

I've seen carbied astron fagnas get decent economy too so they aren't that nasty on fuel.

Just a pissing in the wind thing atm, need to finish that bodywork & paint first.
Good to see it has been done though & isn't too off the wall...

Sigma engines are getting old now and the alloy heads are tending to be soft now so be prepared to change a few heads! Cheers. Adam.

KA24de have been transplanted into the 1200 in the states. Good results and the 12v is also one to consider with a old rx7 turbo from the wreckers 190rwkws have been achieved with more to come.
All this on a 2 litre L series Hybrid setup and conversion.

the complete 2.4 ka24e or de will make more torque for sure.
