why cant you use part of the toyota tailshaft, when my brother snapped a uni in his corolla(3tc and 5 speed) he just went and bought new unis and it was moving again in a half hour
pretty much says to me that they are replacable, datsun ones on the other hand

I'm still goign with my conversion.
I've had other things to worry about like paint and panel etc...

All I have to do is sort out the thrust bearing carrier and get my flywheel machined to accept a Celica clutch and PPlate and I'm done.

I will be posting a complete tute on how I did it when it's (finally) done.

I've also nearly finished and auto bellhousing adaptor plate for my KB10.

I too have been able to fit it in the trans tunnels with no mods except the shifter hole.

I've got autocad drawings, but I need to touch up a few things before I give them away (learnt by my mistakes ).

Hi Cheater_5!
I made a bellhousing using an datsun1200 auto bellhousing as a starting point. I wouldn't do it that way again. I've got a better idea (you always have a better idea when you get the end of your first attempt). I'll be making that for my road car and if it works, I'll offer it as plans or something to eveyone here so everybody can benefit from my trials and tribulations.

We managed to get the T-50 into a manual 1000 tunnel without modifying the tunnel except for elongating the hole which the gear stick pokes through.

Tailshaft was brand-new and balanced for racing for $350. Don't reuse old toyota splines as you can't replace the uni joints on those suckers.

hey quik1000, where'd u get the adapter plate??? You make it ?? how much you get it for. I rekon this is a pretty sweet upgrade for the ol a series since 5 speeds are getting rarer and rarer these days. Any pain in the ass moments when fitting gearbox ?? what about drive shaft??
Just looking into it.

Cheers and good luck with the races

Chris
