I think that if you have a real good look at the plate on the firewall it will read 1973 instead of 1978. model B110 The 120Y [B210] was introduced in '74 & by '78 the new models were the Sunny [B310]

I also believe that guard mounted mirrors were no longer legal in Australia at about the time that the 1200 came into being.
Aussie 180B & the earlier versions of the 200B models had provision for them on the guards, but the mirrors were actually fitted to the doors, so there was a strong reason why guard mounting wasn't used.

Guard mounting of mirrors was still done on Japanese domestic models.

Thanks, mine are on the doors. I don't know if a previous owner had filled in the holes on the guards or not. I would prefer to leave them where they are.
Thank you for the reply.

Doris most of the ones I have seen have been on the doors, but if you dont have any holes allready you could put them on the guards or doors, for 1200s both are correct.

I went to the local tip today and there was according to the compliance plate a 1978 B110 sedan. At our local tip you can take what you like. I got heaps and heaps of stuff. A lot of it looks compatible ? or similar to the stuff on my 1973 1200 ute, but in even better condition. However, it was a sedan.
Unfortunately the tip blokes had caved in the roof. The sedan must have been one of those "little old ladies" cars because what was left was in pristine condition.
Tomorrow I am going to try and remove with the assistance of my hubby the rear bumper bar which is in really good nick and the chrome? blinker surrounds. The plastic inserts are broken. Firstly if we can remove them and they are not metal cubes, does anyone want them?
Also on the 1973 ute where were the side mirrors originally? Mine has them on the doors. Another kind Datsun owner from the USA sent me photos of my model but being a computer gumby I deleted them.
