what i need to do is kill the rust before i stop it from coming back so the body deadner is no good untill the rust is gone, if anyone in South Aus knows a bit about rust removal and wants to have a look at it for me and tell me what you think that would be greatly apriciated.

I have also been thinking about getting another shell but i want to keep the chassie and the suspention 'n' stuff cos that all appears to be a1 so how are the shells attached to the chassie is it just bolted or what?

I really don't want to get another shell unless i have to cos im on a budget and that would mean less money to spend on the interior and engine if i could get one with little or no rust for cheap id probably buy it otherwise i will have to keep
de-rusting it

When you cut the rusted area out you will be able to see behind it. . .

Pop the front guards off, there is a drain in the top rail that you can look up/thru.

Probably a bit on the top rail where the mud accumulates after gettin flung off the front wheels. Be prepared. . .

Go to your local paint supplier and ask them what they have for rust proofing sills, cavitys etc. . . I grabbed a "body deadener gun" the other day, $30 and it came with a tube to stick inside the sills to spray the internals.

Grab a screwdriver and start poking around.

Best of luck, hopefully you won't find too much more.

Depends how structural the spots are that have rust. I always recommend doing a major rust inspection before you start calling any car 'a project'.

It saves you getting attached to the car, and feeling responsible for it's survival.

Rust killing stuff is not a replacement for metal, But it will stop any surface rust getting worse, and allow for a good painting surface on non-structural metal.
