Wont a heavier rear diff help "balance" the front end weight of a 1200?

hilux diffs are awsome although heavy they are easy to come by and cheap. i bought an lsd centre for $200 off ebay. they also have a bias valve thingy that pushes down when wieght is applied to the tray once removed it becomes a great adjustable brake bias with a socket

how beefy? very beefy!

my ute doesnt have enough power to even tickle the hilux diff.. but turbo'd rotaries have been putting massive power figures through hilux diffs for years... also search on the net for that orange sr20 wagon doing massive wheelstands.. gives an indication of how strong they are..

i know of one member who knows that the hilux diff doesnt mind the odd 3 wheeled launch at the drags

its a massive overkill i know... but this one was already shortened for a 1200 so it was somewhat convenient.

the 1970 hilux is about 1275cm wide the newer ones are a bit wider. they all have the same size centres.

the arn't as bid as a ford 9inch.

I'm curious how big it is in comparison to the stock diff. It sounds like its closer in size to a ford 9" or something if it can handle that power.

How wide is it in comparison to the stock axle housing?

Dang, so all Toyota Hilux pickups have this diff? I'm stoked. I wonder how big the ring gear is.
