I measured some strut tubes at the junkyard today from a 1985 rx7 and saw that the tubes were quite small with about a 1.75 inch OD. The tubes were about 14.25 inches long. A 1200 strut is 17 inches long and has about a 1.77 OD on the tube. Seems like they would definitely fit with some modifications, shortnening and maybe some shims inside.
