I cut mine out heaps... cut it with a hacksaw to keep the slots as small as possible. It doesn't seem to have moved yet. I will re-measure and double check when i weld back in. For the mean time though, with all the trial fits etc it sure is a lot easier to slide it in and out this way.

It would be easy if you had a hoist... just make up a frame or something to sit the motor on, lift the car up, wheel the motor under, and drop the car on top.

Think i'm gonna get me a hoist....

current 3 or 5 series bmws actually use a glue from factory for the radiator supports repairiers have told me, they use pot rivets to put them back in after accidents as its stronger than the factor glue method....

they would probably have more strucual riggidity than a 1200 though

No worries, this is the way Ke10 and Ke20 corollas are from factory, actually a great little car to work on.

WS - yeah that was the thought (clearly influenced by the panel beating mate).

I will give it a crack the non cutting way first - and will be sure to post 6 million photos on the website...

Thanks for the pic too - I hadn't seen too many photos of this approach.

By the way do you regret in on the KE10?

Mildman, panel beating mates are notorious for cutting things up then not getting around to fix them, the lower d/side rear quarter has been off my sedan for about 2 months now, he has a new one folded up ready to weld on but getting him enthused is near impossible.

Try it the conventional way first. My Ke10 corolla has a removable radiator support top. This is what you want to do isnt it?

Yeah Daveman - I think I will try it the 'hard' way first....then if there is trouble resort to a rad support mod.

My friend the panel beater is just getting a little keen to do some cutting I think.
