G'day BLOWFLY, Yes I used my original 120y tailshaft, fitted like a glove and yes my 5-speed is a smooth bellhousing 60a normal shift pattern gearbox.
Thanks.

Well hi everyone.
I just finished putting in my A- Series overdrive 5-speed box today, and OH MY GOD, what a different car it is on the highway.
smiles all round.
The gearbox bolted up perfectly to my A12 motor in my green 120y coupe. I didn't have to modify the reverse switch at all but it goes very close to the transmission tunnel though.
I had to use the 5-speed crossmember which was in the sunny and bought a new rear engine mount from Nissan, which is different to the original 4-speed mount.

The 5-speed crossmember also uses 2 extra bolts to hold it, but that wasn't a wrorry as the threaded holes are already in the floor of the 120y, and mounts in the same position as the 4-speed crossmember. The only modifications were to re drill a couple of the holes in it so that it lined up with the holes in the floor.

It have noticed the revs to have dropped about 500 rpm, and the speedo reads perfect.

She's a real goer now.
