The 2.5 L VQ25HR (for "High Revolution" or "High Response") is only offered on longitudinally-mounted engine vehicles which tend to be rear wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Bore and stroke are 85 mm and 73.3 mm, with a compression ratio of 10.3:1. It produces 235 PS (173 kW; 232 hp) @6,800 rpm and 194 lb·ft (263 N·m) @4,800 rpm. It has dual CVTC for both intake and exhaust, microfinished camshafts and a redline of 7,500 rpm.

Good point, when your government has restrictions on engine size. E.g. 2.0 liter is usually the limit in Australia. An ICV (Individually Contructed Vehicle) is one way to exceed the limit, for example put your 1200 body on a frame chassis that is designed for a larger engine.

What kind of replica vehicle?

I would investigate building a "replica" instead of "car from scratch"

rules for replicas are far more favorable, and there's not much test for how accurate your replica is

they have been improved since the serious issues they had
I think they are post 07 but some tuners offered them with
sr20de cranks machined to suit which are full counterweight
and better for high rpm and I believe they where 2.3L.
Dont think these mob still offers them from lack of interest.
They are an ugly thing and many datsun folk have built L series
with the ka24de head in various forms and cost.

Actually a frontier of 05 or newer uses this type of engine plus I've heard reports of the ka transmission fitting as well. I haven't tried it but I too am thinking of doing this swap as well. People say its junk but they have been improving them and I've seen multiple people who have been successful with turbos and superchargers. I think when a pro racer uses one that's when people will stop saying its junk... I cant wait to get my hands on one.

Good idea. In stock form, the QR25 is much better than the QR20 -- 25% more swept volume! If you are going to turbo it, well no worries, just use custom rods & pistons...

It seems no one has investigated which transmissions will fit (if any). Perhaps you will have to make a bellhousing adapter plate. Also in the Sentra it has fly-by-wire throttle, and it seems no one has back-fitted this into an older car.

qr20 is better for the stroke as the 25 has huge issues as as mentioned is a piece of junk. Also you wont find an adaptor for the qr youll need one made up.

another one to try is castlemaine rod shop they make bellhousings and adaptor plates among other things,

just a guess but dellows fabricate all kinds of different bellhousings to suit almost any gearbox to heaps of different engines, maybe give them a bell and see if they can help you out there?
